The Mac Kinnon Family

We played at the park today and Mac enjoyed climbing some trees.  Emily tried but got stuck....good picture anyhow!

Yesterday was a great day to celebrate John and Father's Day.  John is an amazing husband and father, we wanted to treat him with some extra TLC.  After coffee the kids wanted him to open his presents.  We got him a fillet knife, shirt and Emily made him a hat at preschool.  The kids each made a card for him, Mac's was a neat poem:   I'd like you to meet my Dad John.  When my dad need to relax he go fishing.  When my dad wants to have fun he plays wii.  Then we play cards.  Dad always says What's going on?  When he drives he listens to ESPN.  His favorite food is fish.  He does not like to yell.  What I love most about my dad is he's happy. After a yummy breakfast we headed out to do a family bike ride.  We rode for 20 miles, stopping half way for ice cream and coffee.  The kids did great, it was a beautiful day.  We topped off the night with a stop at "Fat Smitty's" for a burger...the size of your ...

Friday Mac has his cub scout advancement ceremony, it was a beautiful evening.  Mac went from a bear to a wolf, if we continue with scouts next year.  The ceremony is always neat to see and Mac of course loves to play with his friends!

Mac's teacher was awarded the teacher of the year award for our school district.  She is an amazing teacher and we were very lucky to have been blessed with such a wonderful teacher for Mac.  The presentation was at a school board meeting the last day of school.  Some of the kids went to cheer her on, she was overwhelmed. The kids loved being there with her.

Mac's last day of school was Thursday.  He asked a month before if we would let him have a mohawk and red, white and blue hair for the last day of school, which is also when they do their field day.  I do not like mohawks but did agree he could have a 48 hour mohawk for field day/last day of school.  Mac loved it and really enjoyed his last day of school.  They signed year books then played a bunch of games.  After they were dismissed we had lunch with friend and I brought 2 of his buddies home to play for the afternoon.  Mac had a really great year and is looking forward to third grade.  But for now we are excited for SUMMER!!!!!!

Mac earns AR points when he takes tests at school on books he reads.  He made it to 100 points and was super excited since he was the only one in his class to reach 100.  Way to go Mac!!!!!

Last week was a busy week in the Mac Kinnon household....sorry for the delay in blogs.  Monday Mac's school had their award assembly, each child was given an award for something.  Mac was given his for being a "Accelerated Reader" and his Christian character was "friendship".  It was a nice evening!

Emily had her ballet recital this weekend.  The theme was "Going to the Oscars".  Emily was in two pieces, one was with her ballet class and they performed to "Tangled".  Her second piece was part of the "Mini Mo" group which is her ballet studio's dance competition group Emily has been part of for a few months.  The show was fun and Emily did a great job, it's fun to see how much she has progressed in a year.  She really enjoys ballet!  My pictures aren't great from my phone, I can't wait for the professional pictures!
