End of Mac's baseball season

Image
Mac's has his last baseball game of the season last night.  It's been a fun couple of months for him and for John who coached the team.  John put together some creative trophies for the boys, he highlighted their best game.  The boys seemed to enjoy them, along with their ice cream treat.  It has been a good season, Mac's already excited for next spring!

Braces.....early

Image
Mac has some serious crowding of his teeth and has no room for two of his front teeth to come in. After a visit to the orthodontist a few weeks ago we decided to go ahead with braces for Mac.  We figured he would need them as a teenager, but not this soon.  They call this "Phase One", he'll have them on around 9 months and they will open up space for his adult teeth to come in.  He'll have to wear a retainer at night until they do.  Then as a teenager he may need braces again.....but hopefully this will lessen the length of time and severity.   Mac seemed excited to get them, he picked "red, white and blue" as his colors, very patriotic.  By the end of the day his mouth was pretty sore.  After a few days he'll be fine..poor guy has endured alot this week!

More stitches

Our camping adventure came to an abrupt end when Mac's buddy accidentally hit him in the head with a baseball bat.  They were looking for their ball in the weeds and his buddy was swinging the bat to knock down the weeks and clipped Mac in the head, just above his eye.  We are very lucky it missed his eye.  We had to drive about a half an hour to the closest emergency room and after 5 hours we were finally done and poor Mac ended up with a couple of stitches.  It was scary for all of us, my heart ached for him.  He was so very brave, a real trooper.  His eye has been pretty swollen the past two days, he looks like "Rocky".

Halibut fishing

Image
John and Mac have been out a few times this month for halibut fishing.  The season is very short here, only about a month long.  Until this weekend they have gotten skunked, it's been hard for them both!  This weekend while camping they took the boat out 2 days, the first day they each caught a halibut and the second day they caught one along with a rockfish and a true cod.  They had a blast and hope to get out once more before the season ends!

Camping adventure

We headed out this past weekend for a camping adventure.  We haven't camped since we sold our travel trailer and have been so excited to get back to camping.  We tent camped at a park near the Olympics, it was a beautiful place.  Our friends joined us, our kids are all buddies.  We helped Samuel celebrate his birthday and the kids had all kinds of fun playing and running around.  Emily worked really hard on her bike and is now pretty good at starting and stopping on her own.  The park is known for their tide pools which were absolutely amazing.  We had a great time despite the rain and cold weather.  We did alot of hiking, bike riding and the boys did alot of fishing (pictures in next post)!  We are looking forward to our next camping adventure, we all loved it.
