Another fun day snowshoeing

Image
We went back to Hurricane Ridge today for more snowshoeing fun.  There wasn't a whole lot of visibility but we had a great time. The kids did great, Emily rode most of the way on the sled and Mac did very good snowshoeing.  They got to feed a bird some of their granola bar and had fun sledding too, even though they ran into a tree!

Scouts minute to win it

Image
At Mac's cub scout meeting they played "Minute to Win it".  Each pack came up with a game, the kids had a great time doing fun stuff like getting a cookie from your forehead to your mouth, a trick all the kids loved with the bonus of getting to eat a cookie!  The boys all did great, they also got a pizza party for all their terrific popcorn sales, it was a fun night!

Waiting for daddy

Image
John's had duty for the past week so we haven't seen much of him.  He texted me that he was on the way home, the kids planted themselves on stools right at the door and waited for him to come home.  They sure love their daddy, we all miss him when we he's not home!

Happy gnome

Image
Over the holidays we went to the pottery place, which the kids love to go.  Mac painted a gnome, I picked it up yesterday and was surprised how well it turned out.  Mac did a great job!  Too bad our snow is gone, he would look really cool hanging out in the snow!

So sweet.....

John was tired and asked Emily if she wanted to cuddle while Mac and I worked on a puzzle.  A few minutes later we heard snoring, the both were out like a light!

Mac's loving his piano

Mac's had one piano lesson but has been practicing and playing around with the  keyboard alot.  Tonight he said he memorized a song, sure enough he played it great!  He definitely has a musical ear, I do not and wish I did so I hope he continues to enjoy learning about music!  Enjoy the video!

The last birthday present

Image
Holly sent Mac's birthday present a few days before his birthday, via priority mail but it never arrived.  Finally it magically appeared today, almost 2 weeks later from when it was mailed.  Mac was thrilled and excited to get a package, yet another "Walter the Farting Dog" books which I find obnoxious, but Mac loves it!

Snow day fun

Image
Yesterday was our last snow day, it started raining and began to wash the snow away!  Mac and Emily played with Playdoh for a long time, Mac was pretty creative and made a tea cup.  We all had cabin fever and were really happy to be able to get out and resume our normal activities today!

Another snow day

We woke up to a little freezing rain, and then more snow throughout the day.  We hung out, played games, watched a movie and had a fun day.  It's fun hanging out but were all getting cabin fever, I hope we can get out tomorrow.  Schools closed again, Mac said he wanted to go tomorrow, oh well.  3 more days to make up in June.  Our power has been flickering throughout the day, hoping we don't lose power and praying for the 100,000 that have throughout the storm area.  Thanks to everyone who's called to check in on us!

Fun in the snow!!!!!!

Image
We woke up to more snow falling, we ended up with about 6 inches it is awesome.  The kids of course couldn't wait to get out and play.  We spent a while outside playing around, sledding down the road, building a snowman and then the kids wanted to jump on the trampoline.  Emily started complaining she was cold, Mac lasted a little longer but we all had a blast playing outside.  School is cancelled for tomorrow too, hopefully we'll get to play in it some more before the predicted rain comes and washes it all away!  Mac is excited to be out of school but doesn't understand yet that it's not a free day....he will have to make it up at the end of the year but he's young and it doesn't matter right now!

Snow...finally

Image
The news has kept saying we were going to get snow over the weekend.  Lots of places did but to our disappointment we didn't get any snow here....until today.  We woke up to snow this morning, it is beautiful.  Mac still had school, although there were lots of idiots on the road I got him there safely.  By the time school was over the road were much better, they are predicting more snow tonight and school has already been cancelled for tomorrow.  Mac is excited about a snow day.............he doesn't understand he will need to make it up in June!  Looking forward to more snow in the morning.

Snowshoe and hike

Image
We loved snowshoeing so much a few weeks ago we trekked out to try it again today.  The place where we went last time was hit with blustery conditions and the road was closed so we found an alternate site.  There was no one around and while there wasn't as much snow it was very beautiful and peaceful.  Emily rode a little in the sled but walked most of our trek. We probably hiked 5 miles today, we were very proud of her and Mac.  When we got back to the truck we tried some snowshoes on her and sure enough they fit and she was able to walk well in them.....I see another snowshoe adventure in our future soon!  We ended the day with a snowball battle, what a fun day!
