The Mac Kinnon Family

Today we all went to Water Country, it was a fabulous day. We started the day in the kid zone, then moved to the wave pool. Emily fell asleep on Pappy's chest so Holly, John, Mac and I went to ride some of the big water rides. Mac was allowed to go on all the rides as long as he had a life vest on. Mac did really well and LOVED all the huge water slides. One he came down on the inner tube by himself, most of the others we all rode in the tubes together. The highlight for everyone was the Hubba Hubba Highway which was a like a huge canal with currents that moved you through the water. It took about 10 minutes to go through it, Mac didn't want to leave so we did this probably 7 times, it was alot of fun. Since he went without a nap when it was time to go at 4:30 there was a few tears. He was exhausted this evening, the poor guy but fun was had by all!

Pappy and Karen came to visit this weekend, Emily wasn't so sure of Pappy at first but warmed up quickly. Mac was thrilled to see Pappy and was stuck to him like glue, bugging him to play with him non-stop. He even stood outside the bathroom waiting for him and asking him if he was done yet! Pappy brought some great presents for the kids too, they are great!

Emily is everywhere now, she is into everything. Yesterday the fridge was left open for a short minute, Emily decided she would try to help herself, there were great things to get into!

We pretty much have our house together, finally. There are a few minor things to do yet but it sure feels good to have it all together. It is so wonderful to have a nice house, we couldn't be more pleased. Mac tells me a few times a week how much he likes his new house. There are lots of kids around, some evenings all the kids are outside riding bikes and playing, it so nice.

Aunt Holly arrived last night for a visit, she needed a Mac Kinnon fix. Mac was so excited all day he couldn't wait to go to the airport. Pappy is coming for a visit on Friday, it will be a great weekend!

Emily puts everything into her mouth as most babies do. Over the past few weeks she has taken a liking to putting little people into her mouth while playing, etc. She has a fit if I take them away from her, not sure what the fascination is, but it's funny. Still no teeth yet.....

Earlier this week Ana invited us to join her at Jumping Joeys which is a kids place that has a bunch of jumpy houses. For the 2 days leading up to it, all John and I heard was about him going to Jumping Joeys. Once we arrived he was wired and loved all the things to do. In addition to all the Jumpy stuff they had a few little ride on toys that Mac just had to do. Emily chilled out and watched the kids.

Mac has taken a great interest in the fish to whom we refer to as Max and Molly (even though we think Molly is a boy, we liked how the names flowed). Every morning he gets up the first thing he wants to do is say good morning to Max and Molly. He so cute, grabs his stool so he can see in the tank. He also feeds then before he goes to bed. The other morning he asked me what fish dream about, yesterday he asked me if they talk and what do they say. We are happy that Max and Molly are still alive, when we got them they prepared us that they may not survive since they were going into a brand new tank with no ecosystem. They said they usually die within 3-4 days, we have made it 6 so we are pretty confident they will survive!

My neighbor Ana invited me to join her for Bunko with a group of gals. I've heard of Bunko but never played it. The thought of a night out with the girls was enough to get me out of my shell. I had a fabulous time. It was so nice to have a night out with adult company and learn something new. All the gals were great, there were 20 people ranging in ages from 16 to 80. Bunko is easy to pick up and fun. I even won $30.00 for getting the most Bunko's. I look forward to it again next month!

Mac had several appointments today, he had a hearing screening (which he passed), blood drawn and to top it off his regular 6 month check up at the dentist. I felt really bad for him today, he was a real trooper. The dentist office was a little amusing as he clinched his mouth shut as the dentist tried to count his teeth! He finally warmed up and it was fine. John took him to the pool, which is one of his favorite places these days and all the doctor/dentist stuff was forgotten. It was a good learning experience for me, next time I won't try to jam so many things into one day for him! PS - Our fish are still alive, it's been two full days :)!

As I'm chatting with my sister on the phone this evening, Emily showed us her new talent....boy I'm in trouble now (see picture below). Yes that is her standing, she pulled herself up, 3 times. She also decided she would crawl tonight after this, she's been trying for days and we keep waiting, she went three or four movements, then stopped and chuckled. John and I found this very amusing, she was so proud of herself. Guess it's time to start baby proofing again.....

We finally got our fish tank (thanks uncle Jim for the wonderful idea)! We put two fish in it today, a platy (mickey mouse) and a sword tail. Mac wanted to name one of them so he named the sword tail Max. We named the other one Molly. Here we go as fish owners, we'll see if they live......

When we were visiting New Mexico in April Grandpa Robert got Mac took Mac to fly a kite that he had gotten him. Mac LOVED it and couldn't wait to have it when we arrived to Virginia. Mac received the kite yesterday and couldn't wait to fly it. We didn't have enough wind until today. John took him out front of our house for a while tonight, Mac was thrilled. Thanks Grandpa Robert!

Mac asked if he could have a Popsicle at lunch time today. I told him not after lunch but he could have one after his nap. He told me he was still going to be hungry after lunch and he wanted to eat a Popsicle . I told him if he was still hungry he could have some fruit. A few minutes went by and he says "Mommy, my Popsicles look like fruit". I got a good chuckle, got to give him credit for trying.

Grandma Jan always seems to think of everyone else and often puts other needs in front of her own. A recent example of this is that she was a huge help to us during our move, without us asking she and Jim offered to drive my car across country so John and I could travel together, stayed 2 weeks with us to help with the kids while we unpacked boxes and yesterday we received this lovely plaque in the mail, she even thinks of Harley! Before coming to help us she spent 2 weeks taking care of her sister who broke both of her arms, pretty much her entire summer off of school was spent helping other people. Thanks Grandma Jan for all the kindness you show to everyone and for being thoughtful .
