A great day at Hurricane Ridge

Image
We spent the entire day today at Hurricane Ridge.  It's one of our favorite places to snowshoe and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.  All 4 of us wore snowshoes today, we hiked a total of just over 3 miles.  Were were out on one of the peaks eating a snack when we were visited by "robber jays" as they are called....who wanted our snacks.  One grabbed a piece of a granola bar out of Emily's hand.  The kids did amazing on the hike and after some lunch we sledded on the hills for a while. While we were eating lunch Mac saw a cougar skull and asked the ranger about it.  She was awesome and let us see a cougar and bear skull and a cougar skin.  We all thought that was pretty cool! We finished out the day with an amazing sunset and the view of a cloudy valley that looked like we could walk on the clouds!  The kids worked very hard today and earned a frosty when we got back into town!     ...

Home safe and sound

We left Tahoe early Wednesday morning to travel home.  With snow still falling we weren't sure what kind of weather we would hit.....or delays we would have.  We ended up doing great and made it home that night, after 16 hours on the road.  The kids were great and excited to be home in their beds.  We had an awesome Christmas and are looking forward to some play dates, more snowshoeing and relaxing times this next week!!!!

Merry Christmas

The kids had us up by 6:30, I think Brian was up first, then Mac!  They couldn't wait to get upstairs to see if Santa came.  Santa did come and left awesome gifts for everyone!  The kids were all so excited, Mac and Emily got their Wii and Brian a cool new scooter for the skate park.  Each stocking was filled with lots of goodies too...and the adults all got fun stuff. I got a Vitamix blender, John a new jacket, Jan a robe and rain boots, Jim a gaft for fishing and Toni some awesome seat covers!  We are all very blessed and had a great morning.  After the presents were open the kids played with some of their new Wii games while the adults "rested"!  After breakfast the kids played outside, I went for an awesome snow run and then later we feasted on an awesome meal.  What a beautiful day to be with family and celebrate the birth of Jesus.....all so awesome!  Merry Christmas!   ...
