Macs Europe Recap

The whole trip was truly incredible and unforgettable. I can't pick a favorite location per se but my favorite stretch was from Venice to Switzerland. I enjoyed the street food and culture in Venice. Munich was amazing with its culture, history, food, and weather. And finally, Switzerland was really just like a fantasy world. I really enjoyed the nature and the surreal views of Switzerland.  I really enjoyed the history throughout and being able to tie it all back together ending in Normandy was definitely the best way to do it. I also really enjoyed golfing. It was incredible  to be able to golf overlooking Omaha Beach. It may have been a mess with lost and found clubs but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way! My favorite food throughout the trip Pizza- Was a Maltese pizza in Mdina a Fortress in Malta.                                          ...

Amity's Europe recap

Our adventure was much more than I ever expected.  The family time was priceless and I learned so much about other countries, cultures, and so much WWII history.  I really never knew much about art, or had a real interest in learning but I was so impressed and learned so much I have a new found interest, it was fascinating! Some other things I learned: * Europe doesn't fancy ice.  For someone who LOVES ice in my drinks, especially when it's hot out - this was a struggle. * We had to pay for water most everywhere - tap water isn't a thing. * Hotels didn't supply washcloths - I learned that the Europeans find this very "personal" so they don't provide one - kinda like a toothbrush. * Pic pockets are a real thing - fortunately, we didn't experience it but did see it happen to someone - that sense of panic on their face, we felt so bad for them. * Iced coffee wasn't a thing either.  Mac tried so hard to get me an iced coffee and ended up with a small ...

It is very hard to nail down one specific time that was the most memorable.  Malta: we had a blast on Gozo and I definitely don’t think my time is done in Malta. Hopefully next time we don’t burn anything up.  Italy: No question about it, the Tuscan villas we stayed at were a highlight.  I also wish we had more time in Florence.  Germany: Bikes were a blast and I could have spent a few more days in the park and BMW museum.  Oh, and the beer was pretty good too.  France: Paris was cool and had such history and romance but the Airbnb Amity got us on the beach was awesome and the WWII history was amazing.  Golfing with Mac at Omaha Beach was definitely one of the highlights and a great way to end the trip.

We arrived last night around 7:30 and had dinner at our Hotel.  We are staying minutes from the airport.  When we woke up we had a flight delay of 2 hours so we decided to make a quick trip into the city for lunch.  We checked our bags and grabbed the express train which goes 100mph and takes about 22 min. Normal train takes 50 min.   We grabbed an Uber at the Paddington train station and went to Buckingham Palace.  It was raining so we did not venture down to Big Ben or Westminister Abbey but we were only a 15 min walk from them.  We had a great lunch and then headed back to the airport.
