Climbing the Eiffel Tower

Our last adventure in Paris today was to go up in the Eiffel Tower. It’s hit or miss if you are able to go all the way to the top based on weather and if the top reaches capacity. We must have luck on our side and we we’re able to go to the top! But in true MacKinnon style, instead of taking the elevator, we climbed 692 stairs to the second level, it was a workout for sure!

After a few pictures, we took the elevator to the top, it was well worth it! The view was incredible! We had a tour guide that provided some historical information and some fun facts… like there was a lady who married the Eiffel Tower, and it takes 25 men 18 months to paint it every 7 years. They keep it to 25 people painting for tradition knowing they could get it done faster with more people. They are currently painting in preparation for the 2024 Olympics. We also saw someone growing Olympic Rings on their rooftop!

We are off to Northern France tonight for these last few days and top off the history lessons for the kids (and myself) by visiting Normandy.
