Whacky Wednesday

Image
Emily's preschool had "Whacky Wednesday" today which Emily just loved.  She found it very exciting to be able to wear different socks and even different shoes.  Most of the kids really did a great job and were very excited about being "whacky".

First catch of the season

Image
John and Mac left at 5:30 this morning to go fishing, they had a great time. They caught 2 ling cod which was their limit, then they tried for some halibut but no luck.  John said Mac was smiling ear to ear when he caught this first fish which was a big one! Mac was so excited when he got home, he helped John clean the fish and couldn't wait to eat it.  A little before dinner the house was quiet (not too normal for us) and I asked Emily where Mac was, she didn't know.  I thought he was outside with John but he wasn't there either.  I looked around and he is in bed fast asleep at 4:30 in the afternoon.  Guess the 5 am wake up call and the day fishing wore him out.  He didn't even get to enjoy his catch for the day!  He'll have a good fish sandwich for lunch tomorrow!

That's a burger...

Image
When we head up to the north there is a roadside burger joint about a half hour along on our journey that we also joke we need to stop at.  We heard they had awesome burgers so today after our bike ride we decided to stop on our way home.  John got the burger they were known for, it was about the size of his head.  I thought there was no way he could finish it, but he proved us all wrong...he did before we finished out "normal" burgers!  I guess biking 16 miles pulling 65 pounds (Emily and her "bike") behind you makes you hungry!

16 Mile Awesome bike ride

Image
We've been itching to do a family bike ride, Emily's was getting too big for the bike trailer so we found a "trail a bike", it's like a bike that connects to a bigger bike.  We saw them last year but Emily was too little and didn't have the stamina or coordination for it last year, but we felt she would this year.  John found a used one a few weeks ago and we finally got to try it out today.  We went about 40 minutes away to the Olympic Discovery Trail. The trail was awesome, it went through some beautiful land, into a camp ground on a bay, then along the bay and lots more scenic views until we hit a town.  We stopped for ice cream before getting back on the bikes and Emily of course had us stop to pick flowers along the way too!  Both kids did great, we ended up riding 16 miles.  We all have sore hineys but had a great time biking and are looking forward to our next adventure!

Just hanging....

Image
A park we went to this week had a cool spider web climbing thing. Emily got nervous but hung in there and figured out how to get to the top!

Dancing

Image
Emily found a dress Aunt Toni made her last summer, she was twirling and dancing around in it all afternoon earlier this week!

Beach field trip

Image
Emily's preschool class had a field trip to a local park to do some beach exploring today with a local naturalist.  Ms. Barb did a fantastic job with the kids and really knew her stuff.  They found all kids of cool things on the beach.  Emily held a sand crab, snail and found some other fun things.  The kids were all into finding stuff, it was fun to watch their excitement.

Best buddies

Image
Emily's best buddy from preschool is going off to kindergarten next fall and every time we talk about preschool getting ready to end Emily gets upset and says how much she will miss Amalee.  No matter how many times I try to reassure her that we'll have lots of play dates she is still worried. They do love to hang out together!

Seat belts

In case you were wondering.....babies needs seat belts too!

Rhody run

Image
John and I did a 12K run today, although John isn't supposed to run he had to get his shirt which they did give you unless you cross the finish line.  So he pushed Emily in the jogger and was supposed to walk...he did run most of it but slowly.  Walking was hurting his knee too so he figured it didn't matter!  Anyway it was a fun morning together and a good race!

Viking Fest

Image
Viking Fest is a big weekend in our neck of the woods.  Mac's cub scout troop was asked to march in the parade, about 8 of the boys showed up.  Pam and Glen came over from the city to see the parade and spend some time with us.  I ended up having to walk with the boys in the parade, the boys did ok but gave away a monstrous bag of candy in the first few blocks, so they had to just wave!
