Yesterday we drove from Roswell to White Sands and we venture out in the chilly weather to visit this beautiful place. We stopped in at the visitor center to learn about the park. It was fascinating to see how the eco system and animals change color to adapt to the "white". Of course we had to buy the kids a "sled" and wax for some "sand sledding". We stopped on a short boardwalk to get our first views then ventured into the back of the park to find the "fresh dunes". It was amazing to see, it looked like snow and the sand was so soft and fine, It didn't stick to you at all, pretty darn cool and beautiful. Of course we had to find the biggest hill and the kids jumped on their sleds. We quickly learned that unlike snow....the bigger you are the slower you go. Emily was the perfect size but Mac and John both had trouble getting a good slide on! It was beautiful and fun....another must see on your to do list if you ever in New Me...

Today we ventured to Carlsbad Caverns in southern New Mexico. We wanted to do a guided tour and got there with 45 minutes to spare. Mom, Robert and Emily took the elevator down while Mac, John and I hoofed it the 1.5 mile into the caverns. It was breath taking and amazing. The tour was fantastic, we always learn so much more when someone is "guiding" us! The pictures don't do the caverns justice at all. After the tour Mac, John and I hoofed it back out of the caverns....another 1.5 miles uphill almost 1000 feet but it was so worth it. If your ever new New Mexico the Caverns are a must see!
