New chicks

Image
The chicken that Bailor got ended up dying. We thought it could be stitched together, but there were things wrong with the inside of the chicken. We buried it in our yard Monday in the woods. Today, mom just came home with 3 new chicks. So now we have 8 chickens. We are still trying to think of names for them, so any ideas are welcome. We got all black chickens, with some white spots. We were planning on keeping them in the garage, but the heating lamp didn't work so we have to keep them in the laundry room. Although they're cute, it's getting kind of annoying with all their noises. But i'm glad we got more! Here are photos of them!

Bailor got a chicken!

Today I saw a thing in the yard and I wasn't sure what it was, so I asked Mac and he said it was a stick. I went down there and it turned out to be a chicken laying on it's back! Bailor was standing over it, and he had a little bit of blood on his paws too, so we assume it was him. The chicken wasn't dead, it just had a really big cut in it's back, so we took it into mom's work so they could suture it up. Hopefully it heals and gets back to normal!

Mac got his Varsity Letter

Image
The high school swim team held its end of the season awards ceremony.  We were very proud to learn that Mac not only got his Varsity letter but he was selected 1st team all league.  He also received a scholar athlete award for having a GPA over 3.5 (his was 3.95).  His coach told a funny story about Mac and how he told the boys to avoiding doing stupid things.   Mac had a great season and has some really good teammates to push him.

snowshoeing at Hurricane Ridge

Image
Last Sunday, we went to Hurricane Ridge and spent all day there snowshoeing 6 miles! The weather conditions were great all day, and the snow was good too. There were also lots of steep hills. We ate lunch at the top, mom and I ate sandwiches and Dad and mac brought a camping meal and ate that. We were all super tired after, and we stopped at one of our favorite restaurants black bear diner and ate a big diner. Mac had a 10-ounce burger, fries, and a mini pie, and everyone was surprised, but he ate it all! We all got either a sunburn or a windburn, but all our faces were red! We normally try to go up to Hurricane Ridge once in the winter to snowshoe, and once in the summer to hike. Overall, it was a fun day! Here are some pictures from our day.

The coronavirus

As you probably know, because of the coronavirus all schools are out.  Mac is still going mountain biking with friends, but they are following the stay 6 feet away from people rule. We still have to do our chores, work out each day, and read an hour. Personally, I would rather be in school although some may disagree with me. For my school, we will do online classes starting on April 6, and Mac's school is still trying to figure out what they are doing. I'm doing lots of baking with all the extra time and I have made chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cupcakes, and I will make more cookies and brownies. Dad is building a volleyball net on the platform that our R.V. and boat was on, and we also moved the basketball hoop up there so we can play our sports during the day. The rest of my volleyball tournaments for the season were cancelled, but hopefully we will have some more practices. Mom and Dad also bought a Chromebook for me because they were on sale at Costco, so I will be abl...

last basketball game

Image
I had my last basketball game a few weeks ago when school was still in session. We lost it, but our team played well. We were supposed to have another game, but it was canceled because of the coronavirus. In our whole season, we won 2 games and lost 4. Although we didn't win a bunch of games, the season was still lots of fun. I have some pictures from our last game!

mom goes on a trip

Image
Mom went on a trip for work, and she got to see Pappy, Nana, and Aunt Linda. Her conference was in Maryland, but she went a few days earlier so she could visit in Pennsylvania.  She stayed with Pappy and visited Aunt Linda one night for dinner. Mom was gone about 1 week, and Grandma Jan came to stay with us to help get us to all our events. Here are some pictures from mom's fun trip and work conference.

skiing with a friend

Image
A couple weeks ago, Dad, Mac, Grandma Jan and I went up skiing with one of my friends family. We went up for the whole day, the snow was really good, and the sun came out a little bit too! My friend and I went to some harder runs and it was fun. It was the last snow day for me, but dad and Mac will go up one more time. Here are some pictures!
