The Mac Kinnon Family

While we were getting ready for our run today Finn was in nature overload with squirrels and geese to watch.  He was literally shaking with excitement, he didn't know what to do!

Today we spent the day in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia.  We started with a tour of the Independence Building.  It is loaded with so much history, so cool to see and stand where so many famous people have before us, where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution was signed and so much more.  After touring this building we toured the congress building then over to see the Liberty Bell.  It too has so much history and importance for all of us today. After our chunk of history we headed over to the Art Museum to see the Rocky statue and run the stairs.  Before we visited we ran 4 miles along the waterfront, it was drizzly, the perfect running weather.  We all enjoyed our work out then we went to see Rocky!  It was very cool, the kids though tit was pretty fun.  After all our exploring we were off to Pappy's for some backyard camping! ...

We left our cozy spot in New York and drove to the tip of New Jersey to Cape May so we could go by the Coast Guard base to get our "retired" ID's.  It was pouring down rain most of the day.....we left there it was dinner time and getting dark but continued on our journey to Philadelphia.  We arrived in the dark and rain to yet another "camping spot" in the city.  It's another parking lots but it has electric and water so we are set!  Off to explore Philly tomorrow.

Today we spent a very long day exploring New York.  We started at 8 am today walking to the ferry terminal to catch the boat to Ellis Island.  It was a chilly morning but the boat ride was fun.  Ellis Island has so much history, we spent almost 3 hours touring around and learning what happened here.  We then ventured to the Statue of Liberty.  We climbed up to the pedestal which was pretty neat, although you couldn't see the statue as good as from the ground!   After a few pics we then jumped aboard the boat and headed to New York.  Once on land again we headed straight for the 9-11 memorial.  The fountains they have completed are beautiful, a well done memorial for so many who lost their lives on that tragic day.  We discussed with the kids what happened that day but didn't go into the museum, unfortunately we didn't have enough time in the day and the kids brains were already bursting the so much history.  We decided to head to Ro...
