Birthday party fun!

Image
Mac was invited to a friends birthday bowling party this afternoon. There were alot of kids but they all had a great time bowling and eating pizza. Emily even joined in on the fun. It was fun for all!

Did you lock the car?

After seeing Gran off at the airport today, on our way home Mac asks me "Did you lock the car while we were in the airport?" Of course Mac, mommy always locks the car. Why are you wondering that? Mac - "My milk is all gone and I didn't drink it!"

Today's trip to the dentist

Mac and Emily had their 6 month check up today at the dentist. I was so very proud of Mac, he hopped up in the chair, sat well and did great for the cleaning and for the dentist. No cavities, yeah! He did so well. Emily on the other hand, as you could probably imagine didn't think so highly of going to the dentist. I tried prepping her yesterday, she would open her mouth, etc. She watched Mac very intently today and when it came her turn she pinched her lips shut. I give great kudos to the dental hygienist who tried her best but Emily wouldn't budge, so we didn't push it. The dentist did need to take a peek and of course that was a battle, hopefully it will go better the next time we try in 6 months!

Reading with Gran

Image
Grans been doing lots of reading with the kids, today I grabbed the camera, I love Emily's smile.

Lion, grrrr......

Image
Mac made a lion mask at preschool today and Emily thought it was fun to play with too!

Just don't tell him

My mom wanted to eat at Red, Hot and Blue tonight since it was one of her favorite places. While we were eating I asked her if Robert would be jealous, did he enjoy it as much as she did. She said he would that he enjoyed Red, Hot and Blue too! Mac says "just don't tell him".......

New fish

We had a few fish die off in the past few months so it was time to add some fish to our tank, it was getting pretty boring. Sunday I wanted to check out a pet store in VA beach that is supposed to have a huge supply of fish. We took a road trip and what we heard was true, fish galore! I promised Mac and Emily they could each pick out a fish. Once we surveyed the options, Emily was dead set on a sword tail. I tried to sway her to something different but she knew what she wanted. Mac had a harder time figuring out what he wanted, when he did he asked if he could have two. After a long drive home in traffic, the fish survived and seem to be happy in our tank. Everyone is playful and it's fun to see all the activity. I bet you can guess what the fishes names are: Emily named hers Dora, Mac named his Diego and Sammy the sloth!

Mama Mia

Gran is here visiting (YEAH) and last night at dinner somehow said "mama mia" to Emily. For some reason Emily liked this word and for the past two days Emily gets into these kicks and starts singing "mama mia" over and over and over again. It was cute the first few times but now it's getting annoying......but she likes it and says it so well we can actually understand her!

Presidents Week

Image
With President's Day on Monday Mac has been doing all kinds of presidents stuff, it's been cool to have him come home talking about the presidents. He made his "president hat" and learned some songs this week, I recorded two ( at the bottom)!

Bob books

For a while now we've been trying to figure out the best way to work with Mac and learning to read. After doing some research and talking with friends we decided to try a series of books called "Bob" books. There is a 4 set series with 12 books in each set with each book and set getting progressively harder. Thankfully our library has them which makes it nice. In a little less than 3 weeks Mac has made it through set one and we just started into set 2 tonight. He is so excited and it's so fun to see him interested in reading. I hope to have him through all 4 sets by the summer and hope he continues to be interested. It's amazing how much you don't think about parenting until your a parent. Reading, schools, oh my boy is growing up. I've thought more about different types of schools, curriculum, schedule, teachers, tours and more in the past 6 months then I ever dreamed of. I just assumed Mac would go to kindergarten at whatever public school where ...

Happy Valentines Day

I hope everyone has had a wonderful valentines day. My day has been wonderful with my two beautiful lovable kids! They woke up early this am, I had a treat and balloon for each of them which they thought was pretty cool. Mac ran and got cards he had hidden with the help of John who told him to hide them until today. Mac also made me a card at school which was very cute. I made valentines pancakes and after church we just hung out today. It's hard not having John around but he left a beautiful card. It was a wonderful day. The kids got cards from Gran, Aunt Holly and Pappy. Pappy also put a dollar in each card for the kids which they thought was pretty special. I've been collecting change for a shelter here in Williamsburg, Mac immediately asked if he could donate his dollar to help people (I had explained what it was all about) then asked Emily if she wanted to do the same, it was very thoughtful and sweet! Enjoy Mac's valentines song!

Thanks uncle Mike

Uncle Mike sent Mac a new Liverpool scarf to replace the one that was stolen off our snowman. Mac was so tickled and wore it around most of the day. Thanks Uncle Mike!

Afternoon at the Air and Space Museum

Image
A good friend and I decided to drive to the air and space museum today, we've had way to many snowy days stuck in the house. Her kids are 5 and 3, Mac and Dixon are great buddies. The museum has a new exhibit called "grossology" which was pretty cool with lots of gross things including different animal poop, bug and a "smelling" chamber with 6 lovely smells! It was nice to get out of town for a little while!

I want to start a band

At dinner tonight Mac and I were chatting, out of the blue he says he wants to start a band. I asked him who would be in it and what would they do. At first he said he'd play the recorder, Emily could use sticks on plates for drums, daddy could be the conductor. Then I asked him what I would do, he said "You can cheer us on"! I asked him who is singing in his band, he then thought some more and said, well you can play the recorder and I'll sing since I know so many good songs! He's learned some cute valentines songs this week, I'm hoping to get him to sing on camera this weekend so I can post it!

I feel like I'm in a snow globe

It started snowing just before we got up this morning, Mac's preschool was still on and when we left the house it wasn't so bad. A few minutes away from the house it all of a sudden changed to blizzard like conditions. Snow was falling fast, wind was blowing it was awful. I was almost to Mac's school and almost made the decision just to go home, but Mac was so sad because school was already cancelled so much. So I dropped him off, got a call my bible study was cancelled so I headed home. Once I got home the weather was so nasty, school were getting ready to send kids home so we headed back out to pick Mac up. It was a long trip but we arrived back home safe and sound. It all cleared up this afternoon and the sun was shining. There's still snow on the ground, I sure did feel like I was in a snow globe today......

Lots of singing

On the way to the gym this afternoon the kids were singing machines. We often sing in the car but they were full of it today! The quality of the video is from my phone, while I'm driving looking in my rear view mirror so it's not the greatest quality but it was very cute. It's a little long, I didn't realize my phone kept it in one segment even though I stopped and started 3 times. The last one Emily finishes up with with trying to whistle, too darn cute!

Snow fun again!

Image
We had a beautiful day today, we ended up with about 4 or so inches of snow yesterday. The sun was shining today and we played outside for most of the morning. Mac of course loved it and again Emily didn't care about it so much but she hung in there! We made snow castles which the kids seemed to enjoy! I've really enjoyed seeing the snow but so want life to return to normal, of course Mac doesn't have school tomorrow...ugggh!

Here we go again!

It's been a busy few days, John's run of time at home has come to an end, he's back on the road again and we have more snow coming! Yesterday was a tough day, we've had such a nice time with John home for two months it was really hard to see him start traveling again, knowing we'll see him for about 19 days in the next 5 months. Instead of the fun weekend I had hoped for we will most likely be home bound again tomorrow, snow started falling today, turning to rain tonight and is supposed to turn back into snow tomorrow. I've enjoyed having snow around but really hope everythings not cancelled again next week! It looks like will have another warm weekend hanging out!

Enough already

Preschool was cancelled Monday, Tuesday, today and tomorrow. It's crazy. His school and other programs we do follow the public school system. So when they close, programs and preschool closes too, and when they are delayed same thing happens. I was supposed to have a meeting tomorrow that has been cancelled too, which I made some cupcakes and lemon bars for. I've enjoyed having Mac home, but it's time to return to our routine! It's crazy.........

Our snow man was robbed!

After Mac woke up this morning he looked out his window and asked me where the snowman's hat and scarf was. I looked and Mac's special Livermore scarf was missing, the hat and the umbrella we had. I went downstairs and looked around the snowman, in the garage and on the porch to see if John might have done something with it. I found the umbrella that was a little beat up but nothing else. I called John and he didn't do anything with it either. So in the middle of the night someone robbed our snowman, I can't believe it. Who would be so cruel to do such a thing? Our neighbors said she has seen a bunch of high school boys coming through our neighborhood from the next neighborhood over, maybe it was them...who knows but it made Mac very sad.
