The Mac Kinnon Family

The truck is still in the shop and we are hoping for it to be ready tomorrow.  Otherwise will be hitchiking with our fifth wheel to San Diego! We drove into the LA area to see Mike, Sarah, Amy and our beautiful niece Maggie.  She is as adorable as her pictures and we were so happy to finally be able to snuggle with her.  Emily was super into her, She loved trying to hold her, feed her and playing with her.   She is so precious and we can't wait to spend more time with her over the next week!!!

Well we've been saying how lucky we've been...only having a few hiccups,  today we had our first major issue. The truck broke down, we had to have it towed to the shop and a second tow truck towed the RV. We found a little campground,  we barely fit but are set for the night. We're crossing our fingers the repair is quick and affordable!

Las Vegas is crazy hot right now.  I'm attending a veterinary technician conference so I'm in comfy AC, poor John went crazy yesterday.  It was hot and he was afraid to leave Finn in the RV, even the the AC going strong it gets into the 90's in the heat of the day in the RV, with the temps outside at 115.  If there was a power blurb and the AC turned off, Finn would literally be a HOT DOG!   So they didn't do anything yesterday except drive around in the AC of the car.  Today we found a boarding facility to drop Finn off so John and the kids could explore a little while I was at my conference.  They went to the Hoover Dam and everyone seemed to really enjoy it,  I'm sorry I missed out.  After my conference we hit the strip to check it out and have some dinner.  It was nice  to see a little of the city!   We decided last night to look at leaving early, our poor RV is taking a beating in the heat as much as we are.  My con...

We arrived in Vegas today, it reached 115 degrees.  I don't think I've ever been in weather this hot before. We have AC in the RV but it has a hard time cooling off. It's 10 pm and still 101 outside, we're finally down to 78 inside. If I didn't have a conference to go to we'd go to a cooler climate! Mac and John had fun cruising on our journey here. Johns been letting Mac ride in the front seat of his truck, he thinks he's hot stuff!

Today is our last day in this area, we decided to do the "Narrows" trail at Zion.  It's a trail along and in the river (mostly in), you can go the entire 16 miles or turn around whenever.  Boy it was super crowded, we walked a few miles and turned around.  The kids loved it, Mac said over and over, "this is the best trail ever".  The water was cold, around 60 degrees.  Mac of course found a place deep enough to jump in.  There is a video at the bottom of Mac and a bird "dancing".  It was so funny, the bird was bopping and so was Mac!  In true MacKinnon style we couldn't stop with just the hike today.  We decided to ride our bikes down from this trail head. Buses are only allowed on the road and they take you to various stops along the way.  So we hopped on our bikes and rode 8 miles after hiking 5.5!  Off to HOT Las Vegas tomorrow.....Viva Las Vegas!!!

We had another amazing day today.  We decided to do a hike called "Fairytale Loop".  We started into it and sure enough all the hoodoo's looked like castles.  After a few miles in, with every turn the landscape was equally amazing.  We went into it thinking we'd turn around at about 2.5 miles, we didn't want to push Emily.  When we reached the halfway point we asked her what she wanted to do and she said "lets keep going and see where this takes us".  Our little girl is impressing us each day!  As we were hiking down a hill we were discussing the strains on your muscles going up hill vs. down hill.  Emily tells me "I just pinch my butt cheeks it help me".  That's my girl....working on her core!   We stopped at about 5.5 miles for lunch and then finished up the hike back where we started.  We did the whole 8.8 mile loop in 5 hours with our stops.  We are proud of both the kids and it was an amazing hike.  After wa...
