Trick or treating......

Image
We had a wonderful time trick or treating tonight. Mac was in heaven, running from house to house looking for ones with their porch lights on. He surprised us and went right into one that was a bit spooky with no fear. As John said, ignorance is bliss! We went throughout our neighborhood with the two boys who live across the street, they all had a grand time. Emily did good too, although she was just along for the ride. Pappy and Karen came down from PA to go trick or treating with Mac which also made his day. We allowed him 3 pieces of candy and he went for the gummy fish, sour gummies and a starburst. A good day was had by all!

Pre halloween cuteness

Image
Emily was wearing a Halloween outfit today that Holly sent for her for Halloween. She looks like such a big girl but she still is a petite precious girl. Some people have asked if she is walking since she is standing so well, she had not taken any steps yet but can stand for a while by herself!

Mac's school parade

Image
Mac's preschool had a cute Halloween parade through the WISC complex today. It was quite cute to see a whole bunch of 3 and 4 year olds in costumes. The most popular was a princess, no surprise there! Mac chose to be a Ninja, we told him he could pick his costume out - we would have preferred something different but he was cute none the less!

Like father like daughter

Image
I took this picture at the pumpkin patch tonight. Notice how much their chins look alike and the grimacing mouths match!

Pumpkin carving

Image
Mac couldn't wait to carve his pumpkin, which his enthusiasm lasted for about 5 minutes then poor John had to do all the work. We ended up with 2 very cool pumpkins!

In search for the perfect pumpkin

Image
With all the sickness in our household and our naturally busy lives we didn't make it to the pumpkin patch until today, normally we don't wait until the last minute! We had a fun time, it was COLD outside and Mac had the best time of all. We found two great pumpkins, got to run through the maze and play a few games. We allowed Mac to pick out his own pumpkin, he did a pretty good job and was so happy when he found the perfect one!

Spaghetti Squash

Image
We gave Emily some spaghetti squash tonight for dinner, she kind of digged it!

Mac earns his orange belt

Image
A few weeks ago Mac's karate instructor told us to think about allowing Mac to test for his next belt. John and I talked about it and at first didn't think Mac was ready to test, as we thought about it more we realized his instructor probably wouldn't have mentioned it if he didn't think Mac was ready. After discussing with his instructor we agreed we would allow him to test. Today he took his "belt" test. It was more involved then we thought he had to show a variety of kicks, punches, follow instructions and answering up to his instructor. He did great - he is now an orange belt - who would have thunk it!

Germs, Germs, Germs

We are going through another cold bug cycle. Poor Emily was miserable Thursday night, coughing, fever, runny nose, etc. I began feeling yucky Friday and John started feeling it today. Mac is the only one thus far who is still going strong. The rest of us are just feeling miserable. Why is it you always get sick when you have so much to do? Ahh well, hopefully we'll be feeling better tomorrow.

Filled up my tank for under $40

I filled up my tank today and it was $39.57. This is the first time in a very long time I have been able to fill my tank for under $40. Gas was $2.49 a gallon, amazing. We haven't seen gas this low in a long time. With the economy the way it is I'm glad for a little relief, we'll see how long it lasts!

John and Hallie

John has a new woman in his life, she helps to keep him organized, in touch with everything, sleeps beside him at night and goes everywhere with him. He can't leave home without "Hallie" , he's addicted to her. If she could cook and take care of the kids she may replace me! Have I peeked your curiosity........Hallie is a blackberry curve smart phone that has become John's best friend. While I'm a little jealous that she monopolizes some of my time, John is tickled pink with this device and seeing him so happy with something makes me happy. Some of John's co-workers had this phone and John was drooling for weeks. A few weeks ago we got him the phone. We have entered the world of text messaging.....we are now officially even more technology savvy then before, it's scary! You may be wondering where "Hallie" comes from. John and his co-workers felt the need to name their blackberry's. John couldn't imagine having a "man in his...

3rd tooth sprouting

Emily woke up last night screaming and it took a while to calm her down. After a bottle, a dose of tylenol and rocking her, she fell back asleep. I thought she just was hungry then got a belly ache. Today I noticed her top front left tooth sprouting, which makes sense why she was so unhappy. Ohhh.....the joys of teething!

Aunt Holly's shopping addiction

Image
For those of you who know my sister, she loves to shop, especially for clothing for the kids. She helps to keep both Mac and Emily in the latest styles! About 2 weeks ago we received a box of goodies, a bunch of shirts for Mac, which he loved and an adorable dress and sweater for Emily. Holly keeps asking for a picture of her in the dress, today we dolled Emily up for church. Thanks Aunt Holly for keeping Mac and Emily well clothed!

Emily's first word

John and I have decided Emily officially has begun speaking her "first word". Every time she waves she says "HI". We kept shrugging it off but it's apparent that this is her first word. Not dada or mama, HI! It is very cute to hear.

Mac's special morning treat

A few weeks ago Mac woke up as John was leaving for work (6 am) and wanted to "go downstairs and watch TV". John and I talked briefly about it, both the safety and should we let him watch TV, we decided that John would set the alarm when he left and we would allow Mac to have a special privilege. He just thought he was the cat's meow. He did really well when I came down he was sitting on the couch under a blanket reading a book. Ever since then he keeps asking John to wake him up so he can have a "special morning". We've allowed him to do this a few more times. This morning he woke up as John was leaving and asked very sweetly if he could watch his show downstairs. John brought him downstairs Mac curled up on the couch and said "ahhh this feels good". John said he was jealous :)! When I came downstairs he was curled up under a blanket looking very comfy. It's sweet the things that Mac thinks are special. He's such a wonderful boy, ...

Mac's new sleeping atire

Image
A few days ago I went into Mac's room to wake him up from his nap to find him wearing a cap and gloves. I asked him why he was wearing them and he said he was cold (it wasn't really cold here). He's taking a liking to wearing these for naps the past few days and occasionally around the house. This pic was right after a nap, notice the lovely "I just woke up don't bother me" look!

Brotherly love

Image
Mac loves his little sister. He loves to give her hugs and tells her almost every day "I love you Emily". It's quite sweet. While we hope this continues when they are older, I'm sure we'll have some challenging times, so we'll enjoy it now!

Missing fish

We got home this evening, after we settled in John went to feed the fish with Mac. We noticed Moppy was missing. We searched our tank and cannot find him anywhere. I called our neighbor who took care of our pets while we were gone to see if he went belly up or if she noticed him in the tank (she hasn't called me back yet). We know that the catfish will eat other fish if he was really hungry, so we think Catfish Hunter may have eaten Moppy. We thought the platy's were too big for him to eat, but I guess not. I don't know what to tell Mac about this one, the poor guy was heartbroken when Max died. When we couldn't find Moppy before he went to bed, he says "he probably went to bed already", so cute and innocent. On the positive side our water is great in the tank and we are ready to add more fish, guess we may be adding another "Moppy"!

Beautiful sunrise

Image
Emily woke us up at 6:30 this morning, which is her usual time. Since were in such close quarters in the camper we all were awake, including Mac. John mentioned going to watch the sunrise, so after Emily had her bottle, we grabbed our coffee and a few chairs and walked over the dune to the beach to watch the sunrise. It was beautiful.....
