The Mac Kinnon Family

Jan and Brian arrived yesterday to spend a week with us.  Since the kids are in school for a few days John wanted to spend a couple of days fishing with Brian.  John found a place he could leave it in the water for the week so today they put it in and took it out for a little while.  Jan wanted to ride along, it was a little choppy.....poor John felt alone when both Brian and Jan took a nap!  No keepers on today's adventure but they will try again tomorrow.

We haven't done as much hiking as we would like to since living here so we decided to take advantage of a day off for everyone and do a local hike.  It was a nice day and the kids did great despite all the mud and slippery rocks.  Finn also did a great job, hes a pretty agile dog and really enjoyed the freedom when we let him off leash!  We all got pretty muddy, I had to chuckle at Emily with her muddy behind!  It was great to spend some time together and enjoy the outdoors!

They wrapped up their 3 day adventure today by visiting the Astronomy Center and stopping by the nut factory and candy store!  All the kids looked exhausted when they got home tonight but they all were smiling!  I bet the teachers will sleep well, thank goodness they have tomorrow off!  We missed Mac like crazy, it's good to have him home!

Today the kids visited some museums, another park, the Tsunami Center and the lava tubes, it sounds like they had a blast!  The teachers even sent a picture of them in the dorms!  It looks like they are having a blast.

 As part of the curriculum of the kids school the 4th grade does a "field trip" to the Big Island.  When I first heard about it I freaked out a little since no parents were allowed to go, it was chaperoned by school personnel.  Know what a great experience it would be for Mac I had to suck up my fears and let my momma strings loose a little!  He had to be at the airport at 5:30 this morning.  I had John take him since I knew I'd be a babbling mess! Shortly after they left I get a text from one of his teachers asking what his camera looked like.  I knew this wasn't a good sign.  Mac didn't have it when he arrived on the Big Island and swears he put it in his suitcase.....we later found out he left it at the airport.  I received a call from lost and found and someone had turned it in. It was a good lesson for Mac but a bit sad as he wasn't able to take any pictures on his own. They visited 3 Natural historic parks today, stopped at a bakery an...

I had to do a long run today and John is gone.  I talked the kids into riding their bikes along with me, it was the first time Emily rode 9 miles on her own.  We stopped for a quick picture.  They did a great job and didn't complain once.  It's great to have some company along for a run!

We hung out with some friends today who recently transferred here too, they were actually in Seattle with us.  They all loved playing together, it's was fun to catch up!  

Emily begged to sleep with Mac tonight.  I think she missed her brother!

Mac didn't take many pictures on the trip..until the plane ride home.  He took a few fun shots!
