The Mac Kinnon Family

Before the rest of our week becomes crazy with getting our house ready to move in and the arrival of our stuff we thought we'd do something fun.  The kids really wanted to go to the Pineapple Plantation.  It was a big, touristy place with a maze, train and lots of things to buy!  The kids enjoyed the maze and we learned about pineapple's which was fun.  We topped it off with some of the famous Dole whip....the kids loved it!

Grandma Jan arrived today, she came to help us move into our new home later this week and get settled.  The kids were excited to have their first visitor and we are grateful for the help!  

Hawaii has lots of lizards and we have lots of gecko's around our new house.  While we were working there this weekend Mac found a baby gecko inside.....and put him on his head!  We like the gecko's....they eat the bugs.  Our house is going to be tented for termites tomorrow so we made sure we put him way out in the yard hopefully he will survive the tenting!  Mac is loving all the lizards....and trying to catch them! 

There's a small amusement area called "Tiki Island" near where were staying that had a special event today.  Kids could get $12 wristbands and have unlimited mini-golf, bumper boat rides, bounce house and a pirate ship ride.  We've had a mellow week with the variety of beach closures and pool closures along with spending alot of time at our new house trying to get it cleaned up before we move in on the 1st, the kids needed some fun!  They had a good time!

John has been doing a great job teaching Mac the game of golf but he wanted him to get a few lessons to make sure he's on track.  A new session started up at the course they've been golfing so we signed him up for a 5 week session.  I asked him if he learned anything after his first session and he said "no....daddy already taught me what they talked about today" !

While were still living in a hotel we keep looking for stuff to do.  Pool was closed since someone "accidentally" drained it, beaches were closed today due to some brown water issues with alot of run off from heavy rains so we found a little splash park on base.  The kids loved it, had fun and were able to cool off a bit!

The golf course at the base is beautiful, John has golfed it almost weekly since we've arrived.  He and Mac have been out at the driving range a few times and we recently bought Mac a set of clubs.  The golf course allows children under 10 after 5 pm to golf with an adult pretty inexpensively.  They boys wanted to golf tonight and had a great time.  Mac watched some surfers while they waited their turn for one of the holes.  John said Mac is doing well!  Mac wants to take golfing lessons....soon this boy will have to focus on one or two sports which will be hard....he loves them all!  John took a video of his swing for Pappy!

They have been forecasting a tropical storm for this weekend, it seemed to weaken but did hit us last night.  There was lots of local flooding, this was the view out of our hotel room.  This area is normally a grassy field....not today!

Mac's been wearing lots of baseball caps but we really wanted him to have a good hat to cover his ears.  He saw this one today and really liked it.  I'm not sure what I think yet but he really likes it!  His poor lips took a beating with all the time on the beach this week.  He remembered sunscreen but we didn't think about his lips!  

Mac spent this week in a junior lifeguard/Ocean safety class. He said its been the best week of summer for him.  Each day was spent doing something different from learning some lifeguard skills, how do dive into waves, snorkeling, reef exploring, getting to ride the ATV and on the jet ski and got to surf some.  The lifeguards teaching the class were surprised that he was actually able to get up on a surf board.  The day he surfed he came home and wanted to get on Craig's list to try to find a used board.  Mac just loves anything to do with the beach and ocean.  He has an amazing week and can't wait to do it again next year!

Every Wednesday where we are staying they do some sort of kid friendly event, today it was a huge water slide and ice cream sundaes.  The kids loved the ice cream and spent almost the entire time on the slide.  It was 2 hours of fun for them!

The kids wanted to play baseball after dinner tonight, Emily get right in there with the boys!
