The Mac Kinnon Family

Pappy wanted to take the kids to see a movie.  It was a rainy day today so it was a perfect thing to do on a rainy day.  Before they went I asked Emily if she wanted Daddy to go and she tell me, that she didn't want to go because he wouldn't let her get any candy!  John ended up going along and they had a great time.

John took Pappy golfing yesterday, the rain held off and they had a decent day on the course!

Pappy came to visit us, fall has arrived and we've had alot of rainy and cloudy days.  We did manage one day of sunshine....with a rainbow!

Since Mac started back to school he kept asking for a uni-cycle so he could practice and learn how to ride.  His school does a circus every spring and kids work through the year to get onto "clubs".  Mac so very much wants to be on the unicycle club.  We told him he had to earn half the money and we would help him get it.  We also were watching craigs list for used ones.  John came accross one a week ago and we got it for Mac. Mac was so tickled and thanked us over and over again.  Every day last week he took his unicycle to school and wore his bike helmet all day, until he teacher told him to take it off.  Every recess and PE class he was trying to ride it.  Each day he got better, the first video below was on Tuesday.  Thursday was the second video, he is riding along the sidewalk in the distance.  Friday when I picked him up at school he was so excited to tell me he made the unicycling club for the circus...he was the second person...

Emily had auditions for the Nutcracker a few weeks ago.  She couldn't wait to audition and was very excited.  She was chosen to be a mouse....again and a gum drop.  She has a few friends that are mice as well so she was happy to be with them, we told her she will be a mouse pro!  The gum drops get to do some acrobatics in the second half.   Here we go......

Mac's teacher gave the kids some creative ways to practice their spelling words.  Mac asked if he could use shaving cream to practice, of course John had to play a prank and Mac ended up with it on his face!  

Emily was excited for picture day for school, Aunt Holly will love her choice!

Just like her brother.....

This past week has been full of germs in the MacKinnon house. Mac had strep throat on Monday and is on antibiotics.  Emily was coughing and wheezing, she's back on albuterol and inhaler for asthma. John has had a nasty cold in his chest and was also put on albuterol Friday..... and I caught the same cold.    Oh my....germs go away! What a way to start the school year.

Last weekend Emily helped keep an eye on the chickens!  

With the blink of an eye summer has flown by and the kids are off to school.  It's another milestone year for us as Emily is off to Kindergarten.  Both kids were so excited to start school, Mac said yesterday "I'm getting bored with summer and am so happy school starts tomorrow"!  Eventhough we had a fun summer I think we are all ready to get back into a routine.  While I fought back the tears this morning, I'm so proud of the kids.  It's bittersweet....... Emily has a big class, 21 kids and almost 2/3 of them are girls.  Mac has 11 in his class and still only 3 girls.  They both have amazing teachers and will hopefully have an awesome  year!  In another blink of an eye......summer will be here again!  Happy September!

I worked most of the weekend so John spent the weekend on the water with the kids.  It's the last weekend for crabbing in our area and John wanted to catch and save as much as he could for the winter.  They had a great weekend and caught 6 salmon this weekend and 35 crabs.  We have a well stocked freezer!   What a fun weekend for John and the kids!
