How do they sleep?

Image
Emily wanted to sleep with Mac last night, and for some reason Mac agreed.  He normally says no since Emily is rather difficult to sleep with, she does gymnastics in her sleep!  This is how we found them after about 2 hours of sleep last night.  They do love each other!

New weekend activity

Mac was introduced to geocaching the weekend before last and thought it was the coolest thing.  This Saturday all he wanted to do was go geocaching, so John took him and Emily this time.  Now both kids are hooked and cannot wait to go geocaching again.  Not sure if they enjoy the "treasure hunt" or finding what's in the treasure box more!  Next Saturday they'll do it again!

Another field trip

Image
Mac had another field trip today to a vet clinic.  He was excited to see "behind the scenes".  He doesn't seem to remember all the time he spent with me at the SPCA behind the scenes.  The kids were able to visit a cat boarding area, dog grooming, a dog getting physical therapy in water, exam room, surgery, x-ray and even a sea gull!  They gave them all cute masks which all the kids loved.  Mac seemed most impressed that the dogs got to watch Curious George while getting physical therapy.  Emily fits right into the class, she likes being part of the group.  It was a fun trip!

Another Macism....

The kids were playing this afternoon, Mac and Emily were pretending to be a "mom and dad".  Mac wanted to go hunting and Emily says "me too", Mac tells her "No Emily you are the mommy and you have to stay home and take care of the kids".....

Emilyism.....

Last night at the dinner table Emily calls for daddy and tells him, while lifting up her shirt "daddy I have little boobies".  Earlier in the day she saw me naked and asked why I had "those", I explained to her that in about 10 years she'll start growing boobies, she was very intrigued by this!

Mac's first book

Image
Mac decided yesterday he wanted to write a book.  He sat for a while and wrote: "Zac's Big Adventure Zac had a stinky shoe.  Zac smelled the shoe and his hair fell out.  Now Zac has no hair.  So Zac had a wig and he washed " That was it so far....he thought about it today but didn't write anymore....cant wait to see what Zac does!

A good chuckle

Last night I was holding Emily, she looks at me and says "Mommy you have bags under your eyes".  It sounded so cute from a 3 year old, John and I had a good laugh.  Guess I need more sleep....

Mac's 6 year old check up

Mac had his 6 year old wellness exam today, he's growing like a weed!  He is 52 pounds and 46 1/4 inches tall which is 5 pounds and 3 1/4 inches growth in a year!  All those fruits and veggies must be doing something good!  Best part of all he didn't have to get any shots, no more (other than flu vaccine) until he's 11!

Aunt Holly's hair

As many of you know my sister has been undergoing treatment for breast cancer which was diagnosed last summer.  When she started chemotherapy she lost her hair.  On my phone it shows the current facebook photo, which this fall Holly had one on her FB of her bald noggin.  When Mac saw it when she called, he was surprised and asked "what happened to Aunt Holly's hair".  This has started a fascination, more with Emily about Holly's hair. Holly finished up her chemo right before Christmas and was able to be with us for the holidays.  When we met her at the airport she had her wig on, which looked a little different then her old style, but the kids didn't seem to notice.  When we got home Holly took her wig off, Mac went on without really skipping a beat but Emily just stared at Holly's bald head. Emily would brush Holly's head telling her it would help her grow hair. A few days later we went to church for Christmas eve services and Holly had her wig...

Bible verses

Tonight at dinner Mac wanted an extra cookie for dessert so we asked him to say a bible verse which he did wonderfully.  We then went around the table saying bible verses we remembered, my favorite is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, Philippians", then I couldn't remember the paragraph and line number.  Without hesitation Mac says " 4:13 ".  I'm so proud of Mac for remembering the verse, amazing what sponges they are!

Mac's birthday pet food donation

Image
Instead of gifts from his friends at his party Saturday, Mac requested donations for a local pet food bank that supplies low income families with pet foods, saving these animals from the shelter.   Everyone did a great job at bringing a donation, there is also a gift card for petsmart and $20, it will all be a great donation.  We are so proud of Mac!

Best buddies

Image
We had dinner last night at our wonderful friends house, the kids love each other so much and get along like siblings, it's so much fun to hang out together.  Were going to be so sad when we have to leave this summer.  Dixon and Mac are inseparable when they are together.

Here comes the flu/stomach bug......

Image
We've been lucky so far this winter and have avoided the stomach bug.....until now.  It's not surprising after the jumpy house place which is a germ factory.  Emily didn't eat real great today and before bed she complained her belly hurt.  John and I had a babysitter while we went to a class at church, she called about 5 minutes after we left saying Emily just woke up and threw up.  We turned around and came home...poor thing feels yucky.  So far Mac says he feels ok....we shall see how long that lasts!  It may be a long couple of days ahead.

You smell good

John is using a new shave gel, later this morning after John shaved Emily told him "Daddy you smell good".  John asked her what he smelled like, Emily says "like Pappy".....too cute!

Birthday money well spent

Image
Mac got some money for his birthday, most of which he put in savings but we allowed him to spend a small amount.  Of course it was burning a hole in his pocket, he knew he wanted to by a new game for his leapster.  When we were in target we saw some more of the Ben 10 Lego figures that went along with the one the one Jim, Toni and Brian got Mac.  They were on clearance for 50% off and Mac was tickled.  He was able to get three for $7.50 each and a game, he couldn't have been happier!  He put them all together when we got home, there's only two more left to get but they weren't on clearance so he needs to start saving!

The big birthday party!

Image
We had Mac's birthday party today at a jumpy house.  The kids had a blast!  It was kind of crazy, 24 kids and the place was busy with parties going on in 4 different rooms plus they are open to the public so there were kids everywhere.  After lots of bouncing and a few minor injuries the kids were worn out and ready for food and cake.  Mac seemed to really enjoy having everyone there and I'm sure all the kids will sleep well tonight!   Mac and Grace  Ishan and John  Dixon, Aiden and Josiah  Kayta and Malia  Ben, Seth, John, and Vincent  Emily and Grace  The Three Musketeers (Mac, Aiden and Dixon)  Dixon

Mac's 6, wow!

Image
Our little man turned 6 today!  We started the day early, Mac got up as John was getting ready for work, I fixed a cool breakfast and we let him open one package and a few cards before John left for work.  He opened a game and case for his leapster which he was tickled about.  Then he opened a few cards, each which had some money for him, most of which will go into savings.  At school I took in cupcakes, which his class enjoyed, we also shared with the 3rd grade class which is Mac's class prayer buddies class.  After swim lessons we let Mac pick where he wanted to go, he chose Red Robin, we had a good dinner and they sang happy birthday to him which he thought was pretty cool.  Once we got home he got to open the rest of his packages which he so enjoyed.  He got some awesome games and puzzle, a cool Ben 10 lego figure, fleece and shirt, a camera for his leapster (which he is having so much fun with), some crazy Mac n cheese that Grandma Jan found...
