Early birthday celebration

Image
Since Holly is leaving tomorrow she wanted to do an "early" birthday celebration for Emily today.  Emily was tickled and enjoyed celebrating her birthday early, even if it was only one present!  Two more celebrations later this week!  Emily can't wait to be 4!

The big show!

Image
Emily had her two minutes of fame in her "mouse" roll in the Nutcracker this weekend.  Friday night we all went and watched the show, it was a good show and of course Emily and all the other "mice" we just darling.  Mac watched the whole show and seemed to enjoy it as well.  She had a performance both Friday and Saturday night.  We weren't allowed to use flash so the pictures weren't great, we'll have a few professional pics soon.  Emily seemed to really enjoy it and says she wants to do it again next year.

Baby love....

One of our Thanksgiving guests had a three week old baby and Emily was in love.  She just adores babies, she sat for a long time with the biggest grin on her face!

Happy Thanksgiving

Wow, what a great Thanksgiving.  We have so much to be thankful for, family, friends, food and so much more. We are so grateful for a gracious and wonderful God and all the blessings he has given us.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Birthday Aunt Holly

Image
Holly came into town for Thanksgiving yesterday so we got to help her celebrate her birthday last night.  The kids were so excited for her to open her presents and have cake.   Happy birthday Holly!

Ladybugs...

Image
I found a ladybug in the house the other day and Emily just loved it.  She made a home for it in a bowl and got some grass, it hung out for a while before escaping!

Daddy and Mac 5K

Image
John and Mac did a 5K Turkey Trot at the base on Saturday.  Mac ran it in 35 minutes, they both had a great time!

Oh Sister....

After dinner I asked Emily to go upstairs and get her ballet clothes on since we had to leave in 15 minutes for her Nutcracker practice.  She comes downstairs 10 minutes later in her jammies.  I look at her and ask her why she was in her jammies to go to ballet, she says "oh sister", John who was sitting behind her thought she said "oh, s**t and was totally shocked and laughing.  She immediately turned around and went to get her ballet clothes on and I explained to John that she said "Oh sister" (which she has said before) and not what he thought....

Mommy when can I buy a snake.....

Image
I was in the shower this morning and Emily comes in the bathroom and asks me when can she buy a snake.  Puzzled I asked "a play snake or real snake?"  She says a real snake and then I ask why.  She said because she wants to hold it, so I told her she can share Mac's snake but had to wait until daddy was home to teach her how to hold it. When I got out of the shower she was holding Sammy and enjoying it.  Mac was a great big brother being very patient with her showing her how to hold him. Crazy girl....

Mac's turkey

Image
Mac had a "turkey" project for class, he had alot of fun doing it this weekend and I forgot to snap a picture.  When I was at school today they had them up in the hallway already!  Gobble Gobble!

Being a good brother

Image
Mac is a great big brother to Emily, he really looks out for her.  We went to the library today and the kids are always excited about the new books they get and want to read immediately. As I was cleaning up from dinner I heard Mac reading to Emily, she was so excited.  I was able to capture the last few pages on video.  While they have their moments, it's so sweet to see how much they really do love each other.  Little things like Mac saving half his cookie from "cookie day" at school for Emily or Emily always asking for a second sticker for her brother after her ballet and gymnastic classes...little things like this warm my heart!

She looks older....

Image
Emily is digging her new haircut, John and I also like it alot too.  After having a few days to get use to it, I realized it makes her look older.  Although she's almost 4..she now looks 4!

Mountain bike ride

Image
John went on a trail run today and took Mac along to ride his bike.  Mac did great on the trails and loved getting dirty!  They had a great time!

Mac and mommy's new do's too

Image
Since I haven't had my hair cut in over a year I thought it would be fun for me to join Emily and get mine cut too.  Mac also was looking shaggy.....so three new hair do's today!

Emily's first haircut

For almost 4 years I swore I would never cut Emily's hair, that when she was old enough to decide I would let her cut it.  For a while she's been asking to get her hair cut, we agreed we would wait until it was long enough to donate to Locks of Love.  She loved the idea of giving her hair to someone who needed it.  Over the past few weeks it was becoming unmanageable and getting in the way alot. We measured it and had more then enough to cut it and still leave a little length, so today was the big day.  Emily was so excited and could hardly wait to get it cut, she sat like a perfect princess and was so proud to hold her 12 inch "pony tail" to donate.  She looks beautiful and she is so happy to have shorter hair.....mommy only shed a few tears!
