Montana High Country tour

Image
Today we drove to Goshen, IN to the Keystone plant to take a tour of our our RV was built.  It was actually pretty cool to see how the RV's are assembled and we were amazed that they produce 4000 a month!  We also learned that 80% of the staff on the Montana High Country line were Amish, so they started really early in the morning and were done with their day by 2!  It was a neat adventure.  Were off to our college town tomorrow, Hail Purdue....here we come!!!!!

Welcome to Michigan

We made our way to Michigan today, the drive was a bit crazier than our norm!  Driving through Chicago was a bit hair raising and the road were terrible.  Our campground is nice though....we forgot to take a picture!

A great Chicago Day

We had tickets for the night game of the Chicago cubs tonight so we hung around a bit this am so the dog wasn't alone for too long!  We headed to the Field Museum around noon, we've heard what a tremendous place this way.  It was loaded with tons of stuff to see, you need several days to visit it all!  We watched an IMAX movie on Africa and toured several of the exhibits.  The last one was "underground bugs"!  We all had a blast. After our museum adventure we walked to the subway and rode it to Wrigley Field for the game.  It was a fun atmosphere and really neat to see Wrigley field.  We left a little after nine since we had to ride the subway to the car and then had an hour drive home.  When we got home we saw the game was in overtime!  We did alot of walking today but had a great time in Chicago!  Off to Michigan tomorrow.

Photo shoot

Mac really wanted to watch another Harry Potter movie tonight and since Emily doesn't like them we told him that we wanted to do a family movie that Emily would be ok with too.  A little while later the kids asked if they could use the good camera to take some pics.  Looks like Mac bribed Emily with a photo shoot and "being nice to her" so he could watch Harry Potter tonight.  They actually got some good photos!  We also took Finn for a walk and he jumped in the water chasing sticks....good exercise for him!

Mac takes 1st..

There was a 3NM (3.4 miles)  race this morning on the base we are camping at so of course we had to run it.  We gave Emily the option and surprisingly she decided to run too.  It was a beautiful race and we all did very well.  We are so proud of Mac for taking 1st in his age group and 14th overall (out of 661 runners).  John won the top male Coast Guard award (and a free pair of running shoes) and Emily and I both did well too.  I missed 3rd place in my age group by 30 seconds! Mac didn't get his award, they mail the age group awards so he was bummed but he will get it!  The kids played for a while after the race, it was a fun morning all around.

Worth the view....

We left our fishing hole west of Chicago to come to a military base north of the city for the next few days.  We've heard how beautiful it was and were excited to get here.  Our bubble was a little bit busted but when we pulled up our site was pretty flooded.  This is a small campground on base with no amenities other than electric (no water or sewer). After a deep breath we worked through how to make it work....and yes the view is beautiful.

Fun in Chicago

We got up early this morning and ventured into Chicago for some exploring.  There are some great bike trails in the city so we decided to park a little north and ride our bikes to Navy Pier and the Willis Tower.  It was a beautiful bike ride, Emily stopped to do her flip!  We arrived in the city, while there are some bike lanes in the city they aren't as bike friendly as some!  We walked a few blocked to Willis tower and found out there was an hour and a half wait to go to the top.....so we decided to go back Monday when we are in the city.  Off to a Shake Shack for a Roker burger, again we walked the city street with our bikes!  The kids had seen the promotion on the Today show for the Roker burger and really wanted to support Al, it was a delicious burger....and the shake went down pretty smooth too! After filling our bellies we hopped on our bikes and headed to the Navy Pier, again filled with lots of fun activities.  The kids and I flew in the...
