Fun in Chicago
We got up early this morning and ventured into Chicago for some exploring. There are some great bike trails in the city so we decided to park a little north and ride our bikes to Navy Pier and the Willis Tower. It was a beautiful bike ride, Emily stopped to do her flip! We arrived in the city, while there are some bike lanes in the city they aren't as bike friendly as some! We walked a few blocked to Willis tower and found out there was an hour and a half wait to go to the top.....so we decided to go back Monday when we are in the city. Off to a Shake Shack for a Roker burger, again we walked the city street with our bikes! The kids had seen the promotion on the Today show for the Roker burger and really wanted to support Al, it was a delicious burger....and the shake went down pretty smooth too!
After filling our bellies we hopped on our bikes and headed to the Navy Pier, again filled with lots of fun activities. The kids and I flew in the swings then we all walked the Pier. We let the kids pick one more thing to do (things are cheap!) and they both picked ice skating. They thought it was pretty cool you could skate in the summer. Emily's been bugging to go ice skating for months so it was a win win for everyone.
Neither of the kids have really ice skated much before and Emily picked it up much faster than Mac. She was skating circles around him while he was still finding his balance on his skates! The both loved it and want to do it again soon. Who knows maybe Emily will want to figure skate!
After skating we still had a 7 mile ride back to the car. We made it....a bit tired but everyone did so well and not one complaint about the bike ride! We rode over 15 miles today, kudos's to the kids for hanging in there!!!!
