The MacKinnons will be on the road again........

It is another transfer year for us, we so much wanted to stay in the Seattle area.  We love it here and would like to retire here....but John still has another tour or two yet so......we received our orders this week and we will be off to Hawaii this summer for the next three years.  It wasn't something that was on a radar and were a bit surprised when the detailer called.  It will be our most challenging move yet but I'm sure we'll enjoy our time in Hawaii.  The kids will have some amazing experiences there.  Lots to figure out and plan!  Aloha!

Quarterly awards

Image
Every quarter at the kids school they give character "awards" to students, they pick a few each time but everyone gets one by the end of the year.  Mac received two awards today, one for being on the recycling team and his character award was for "cheerfulness".  Mac always is smiling and makes people laugh, we are so proud of him!!!!!

Crazy doll head

Image
Emily had some money left over from a birthday gift she returned and it has been burning a hole in her pocket.  I finally took her to the toy store yesterday and after about 20 minutes of walking around she saw this doll head that you can do it's hair and accessorize.  She loved it the minute she saw it and didn't want anything else.  It's kind of cheezy but it makes her happy.....we'll see how long it lasts!

What girls do when football is on....

While Mac and John were emersed in the big football game Sunday, Emily and Grandma Jan took care of Emily's babies and had a picnic!

Mac's MLK presentation

Mac's class performed a short MLK play, Mac was the "adult" MLK.  He only had a few days to work on his speech and despite getting a cold did a fantastic job!  After their presentation they also wrote what their "dream" was.  It was pretty awesome.  Mac is growing into a fine young man!

Another bike ride

Image
Mac and John both had medical appointments in the city so we decided to make a day of it and had some time to kill between appointments.   The boys went for a bike ride while I ran since I am training for another race.  Mac has another 10 miles under his belt and loved it!

Bye Aunt Holly

After spending the better part of three weeks with us, Holly headed back to California today to get ready for school again.  It was a great visit, load of fun for the kids and great to have my big sis around!

Happy Birthday Mac

Tonight we celebrated Mac's birthday as a family.  I had to work until 6, everyone waited for me to get home to start the celebration!  Mac wanted his favorite dinner, Salmon of course!  We had a great dinner, opened some fantastic presents and then had another "zoo".  Mac couldn't wait to get the last drop.  Wow, what a great weekend for Mac.   It's hard to believe he's already 9, he is becoming a wonderful young man.  We are so very proud of him and all his hard work and accomplishments.  WE LOVE YOU MAC!!!!  Happy 9th birthday!!!!!

Birthday party sleepover

Image
Mac wanted to have a birthday party wii tournament and sleep over for this birthday this year.  We had 9 boys over, six spent the night for the sleep over.  It was loud, crazy but alot of fun for Mac.  They all seem to have a great time. After some wii, food and birthday cake we tried to get the boys to sleep by putting in a movie hoping some would pass out.  Only one boy went to sleep, so it was 11:30 before we got them to bed. It was a late night and early morning, the boys did well overall!
