Fun in Vermont

We drove to Manchester Vermont today and had a jam packed day.  The town's here are so quaint and pretty we decided to do a short run while we did a few loads of laundry.  Then we toured "Hildene", which was Robert Lincoln's (Abraham Lincoln's son) estate.  We learned about his family and the Pullman train car to which owes alot of it's success at the time to Robert Lincoln.  The estate was beautiful and is still self sustaining today.  The last of the Lincoln's passed away in 1975.  The docents were fabulous, stopping along the way to show us different things, including where a bear likes to visit!  We also learned about the goats and how they make cheese there.  Pretty neat.

Alot of the home was still as it was during that era, it was really cool to see.  The gardens were amazing and the view....breathtaking.  We all definitely learned something!  After our tour we stopped by Orvis, a fly fishing shop and to feed some fish.  Finn wanted to jump in a catch some fish too!  We also passed by another "Mac" shop....Mac always thinks it's pretty cool.  It was a long day but a really nice one!  Off to New Hampshire tomorrow.
