Ronald Reagan....wax museum
Mac's class have been working for several weeks on their "wax museum" presentations. Each child in the second and third grade were assigned a famous person whom they researched. They all created a poster and presented speeches yesterday. Mac was given Ronald Reagan, after reading a book on him and answering some questions, one was "what inspires you about Ronald Reagan". Mac's reply to us was that he was a lifeguard and saved so many people. When we asked him why being a president wasn't an inspiration he told us that he has "stage fright" and would not want to talk in front of people. We thought we were in big trouble when he was going to have to present his speech in front of everyone.
We found a fun Reagan mask and dressed him in a suit. Once his speech came home he practiced...and practiced and got it memorized. Yesterday he did an amazing job, he was confident and was able to recite his speech from memory, we are so very proud of him. He was one of a handful of kids that actually memorized their speeches, most had to read from cards. All the kids did a great job and some of the costumes were fabulous. After their speeches they stood by their posters and answered questions from the parents and students. Every so often you were hear a "bong" and they would all assemble as they were wax figures and one of the teachers would recite a famous quote, it was pretty fun.
