Day One

This week is what we in the Mac Kinnon household call "He?? week". Moving is never fun and this is the week our belongings are being packed up and hauled away. John and I are both running around like crazy and are very sleep deprived. Last week was crazy enough being John's last week at work, going to Southern Cali for Granny's memorial service and Sunday and Monday we ran around like crazy people preparing our home for the movers to come pack us up. This all on top of refinancing one home and getting ready to settle on another. UGGGHHH!!! No wonder we are tired! Today went fairly well, our travel trailer is pretty packed, we only have a few more things to gather for our long journey. Our home is about 1/2 packed up, they come back tomorrow to finish. Our wonderful next door neighbors had us over for dinner tonight. It was such a great dinner and a nice break from the moving routine. We enjoyed visiting with Jim, Thanya, Jeff, Sandy and Mike. We have really great neig...

Please and Thank You

We work hard at trying to teach Mac manners, such as saying please and thank you. He does a pretty good job most of the time. Tonight he was Mr. Manners. We sat down to dinner and he started eating, after a few bites he told me "this dinner is good, thank you mommy"! If this wasn't sweet enough, after he almost cleaned his plate he very politely asked, "mommy may I have some more ranch please?". Of course I gave him some more, to which he responded, "thank you mommy". I am so proud of him!

Great Day for Granny

Yesterday we had Granny's memorial service. It was a very beautiful service that included a bagpiper that played amazing grace. After the service everyone joined together at Donna's house to visit and remember Granny. It was a very special day, the kind that Granny loved to just sit and watch the kids play. Although we will miss her very much, we know that she is now with Papa, Dad and all the family and friends that have passed. We love you Granny!

Are we there yet?

We left Thursday night for another quick trip to Southern California. We drove until about 11 pm and stopped at a hotel. We woke up to the highway being closed to a chemical spill, so after Mac enjoyed a time in the pool we had to detour, it took us a little longer but we arrived to Aunt Debbie's safe and sound. Mac asks frequently "are we there yet" or "are we getting close". We thought Mac would be a little older before this started...it should be an interesting journey accross country in a few weeks. It will either get better or worse...... of course we couldn't pass up some cute pics!

Saying goodbyes....

I know it's part of being a military family, but leaving friends and family and the life you've created for 3 years is always hard. This week I've had to start saying some goodbyes and I feel so fortunate to have made such wonderful friends. Today I had to say goodbye to all the great people I worked with, while I had a love hate relationship with the job itself, I worked with a bunch of amazing people. The next few weeks are going to be filled with a lot of goodbyes and farewells...it's never easy......

Growing fast

I pulled out a nice outfit to see if it still fit Mac and left it on the coffee table. As I was getting ready this morning Mac comes walking in to the bedroom dressed like this. He did this all on his own, even the tie. He's growing up so fast and out of his clothes.....
