The Mac Kinnon Family

This weekend I used most of the berries we picked to make jam.  I've never made jam before or canned anything ever, I've always been intimidated by the process.  After canning 24 jars of jam, it was pretty darn easy.  I did three batches, two raspberry and one blackberry.  I have almost enough blackberries and raspberries to make a combo batch, I just need more jars!  I'm excited to do more!  Maybe everyone will get jam in their stockings this year.

Mac spent last week in soccer camp, he had a blast.  It was one of the most well run camps we've experienced.  Mac was so excited to wear the shirt they gave him, he and most of the other kids wore it every day. He learned alot and on Saturday they got to play a "game".  Mac's team was USA and they played Mexico.  After a lap around the field they played two 15 minute half's with a water break in between.  It was good and Mac really enjoyed himself, it was a camp we'll definitely do again next year.  Mac's looking forward to playing soccer again in a few weeks through our county league!

We went berry picking again today, I want to try to make jam.  I picked 9 pounds of rasberries, it was alot of fun.  The kids picked for about 10 minutes then preferred digging for rocks in the dirt!  We'll see how jam making goes....

We've been trying to live a little bit more of a "greener" lifestyle these days.  Since we've moved one of the new things we've started is a compost pile and this weekend John added a small worm farm to help with the compost.  Mac just loves the worms (no surprise there), they go along with the snake for me.....don't care to touch, feel or have in our house but they are fine outside!  They do help contribute to making the compost better. 

The kids earned a movie night this past weekend, we had pizza in front of the TV watching a kids movie, they were loving it!

We went to our little downtown area today for a street fair, they had a kids stage where they were doing a variety of stuff for the kids.  The local high school cheerleaders came out and grabbed some of the kids, Emily was excited to go on stage and "cheer" with the girls but was either in awe of them or had stage fright, she just stared at them as the cheered.  One of the cheerleaders were help her, it was cute.

While Emily and I went to preview some ballet and dance classes, John and Mac took the kayak out to do some crabbing.  They found an awesome starfish, ended up loosing the crab pot.  John was bummed but had a fun time anyway!
