The Mac Kinnon Family

The halibut fishing season is very short here and Saturday was the last day of the year.  John and Mac left the house at 4 am, Mac as usual was up and ready to go.  He just loves to go fishing.  Mac got the first one, even before John had his pole in the water.  It was a really choppy day on the water and Mac got seasick for the first time.  He was a real trooper and stuck it out a while, on their way back in they stopped to give John 15 more minutes to try to catch one more, and John did!  They both got a halibut and Mac was feeling better as soon as his feet hit the dock.  It was a successful fishing day!

Mac's teacher took the kids on a "scavenger hunt" for a their end of year field trip.  They had fun finding treasures throughout our local town, then went and watched a movie.  Mrs. Hemry made them all hats which Mac loves, he has been wearing it ever since he got it!

Mac got some mustaches in a gift bag, the kids thought they were fun!

Emily had her last day of preschool yesterday along with her preschool celebration and picnic.  We were off to a great start, Emily was swinging on the rings....and then she fell and got a fat lip.  After she felt better she joined her friends playing in the lake, ate some fun food and received her preschool certificate.  She is very excited to be heading to kindergarten.  It's bittersweet, she's growing up so fast!

Emily and I were shopping at Costco yesterday and she saw some dresses.  Emily loves clothes and  shopping...something she didn't inherit from me.  Anyhow she tells me "I need a dress for Father's day".  I told her that Father's day is about daddy and not about gifts for her.  Emily says "I need a dress to look pretty for daddy for Father's day"!  Oh boy....she's learning how to work the system!

When I do my long runs I like to take an ice bath to help with my recovery.  I know it sounds strange but it does really help.  After my half marathon on Sunday my friend and I decided to take a modified ice bath in the water.  It was cold and did the job!  

I ran a half marathon Sunday, while I was running John took the kids to a lake nearby that is stocked with trout for the kids to fish.  Emily caught the big one within a few minutes, she loved it! Both kids caught two fish and wanted to eat them for dinner.  They enjoyed it!
