The Mac Kinnon Family

Mac had his first basketball game of the season.  He is playing with some of the same boys from last year.  They played a really good game and won which was very excited for all of them!  

Mac's class has been working hard to learn cursive writing this school year.  Their teacher told them she would start testing them in January and if they can write from a to z in cursive with no breaks in under a minute they would make the cursive club.  Of course Mac hears "club" and wants on it....so he worked hard and made the club this week.  Now he has to do all his work in cursive....which was exciting to him at first...that is until he realized it takes long to write in cursive! Congrats to Mac for working hard, his cursive is actually really good.

I work in Emily's class Friday afternoons, Holly came along today and read to the class at the end of the day.  Emily wanted her to read "Bad Dog Marley"!  Holly wanted to read "Walter the Farting Dog" but I didn't think it was the best choice.........  

Mac celebrated his birthday in class today with cupcakes...it's just the start of a busy birthday weekend!

Emily says to John "Daddy I don't understand" and John asked her what she didn't understand.  She said I've blinked a million times and Aunt Holly still isn't here.  She told me she'd be back in the blink of an eye..... Too cute!

 Mac has been asking for a road bike for a while.  He's wanted to ride with John and I but his mountain bike cannot keep up with us.  We've thought about it for a while and decided his birthday would be a good time to find him a bike.  Finding a youth rode bike isn't easy, but with some determination we found a used one on craigs list.  It's a perfect fit for Mac and he's already rode his first ride of 10 miles on it.  I see lots more rides in our future, maybe he'll do the STP with John and I this summer.....if we can!

Today was Emily's special date day with Holly.  They took the ferry over to the city and started with lunch, then off to the American Girl Doll store for a big shopping adventure.  Emily had 2 gifts cards to use and couldn't wait to shop.  She spent her cards well, got one of her dolls ears pierced and a bunch of accessories.  After Holly's friend joined them, Emily got to go a second time and Ingrid bought her a special birthday gift too... a new outfit and seat for her dolls.  After 2 trips to the AG store I think Holly needed a big drink!  They had dinner and then spent the night at Ingrid's.  After sleeping in and a fun breakfast they brought Emily back on the ferry.  Emily had a blast and couldn't wait to show us all her new treasures!
