The Mac Kinnon Family

We've got some pretty birds here in Hawaii and one of my favorites is the red crested cardinal!

The street we live on has several kids, they are all close in age together and they all love playing together.  It's been great.  One of the families two doors down from us is another Coast Guard family.  They invited us for a BBQ today and the kids had a great time playing and trying to beat the dad's at soccer!  We are really enjoying our neighborhood!!!

Since Mac was enjoying golf we started him in lessons a month ago.  He started in level one, it seemed fairly easy for him, it is alot about learning the rules of the game, chipping, putting and some driving of the ball.  Today when John picked him up his coach told John that if Mac continues in the next session he can skip level two and go to level 3.  His coach has hand picked a few kids that he will take out for 2 hours and golf with them and teach as they play.  It's a pretty cool opportunity and Mac was super excited.  Pappy and Aunt Holly may have some competition next time they play golf with Mac!

John favorite golf course has a family special that after 5 pm you can golf with the family pretty inexpensively.  John and Mac have done it a few times but today Emily and Grandma Jan wanted to go along and see the course.  They rented a cart.....which of course made it more fun!  They had a great time.

The kids had only a few days of school this week, they are off today.  We've been working so hard at unpacking that we let Grandma Jan decide what she wanted to do today.  She decided a trip to a local museum would be fun, I had heard it was a great place.  It was fantastic, so much so we got a membership so we can go back since we didn't have time to do everything.  We watched a great lava demonstration, their science area was awesome, we learned a little hula and we listened to some great storytellers.  We can't wait to go back!

Mac and Emily had their first day of school today.  They both were excited and ready to get start the day.  It was only a half day, they both like their teachers and seem excited for the school year.  1st and 4th graders!!!!!

The kids are loving our new house, there are several kids on the street and they are riding their bikes, scooters and playing like crazy.  John put up a basketball hoop for Mac this weekend and he was over the top excited!
