West Virginia..running and old friends
We got up with the sun this morning and headed for Harpers Ferry, WV. We wanted to run the Appalachian Trail and the C & O Trail, we ran 7 miles and hit them both and ran from West Virgina to Virginia and back! It was a blast and the weather couldn't have been better.
After a little exploring we got cleaned up and headed to visit some friends we haven't seen in 5 years. Linnea and I met while we were stationed in Williamsburg and our families became fast friends. Linnea and I ran and biked alot together and she became such a dear friend. Our kids were close in age and they too become great buddies and her hubby and John were both in the Coast Guard! We transferred and they left Williamsburg a year later for an assignment in the Netherlands (lucky ducks!) and just arrived back to DC a few months ago.
It was so nice to see them and we seemed to pick up right where we left off 5 years ago. The kids participated in a "boat race" which was alot of fun for them. We had such a great time catching up and didn't want to leave. Mac asked if he could hang with his buddy one more time and I bugged Linnea for a run! Hopefully it won't be another 5 years until we connect again!
