The Mac Kinnon Family

Mac is still very excited about karate and was jazzed up tonight. He did fairly well, he got a little distracted by another kid in the class who was messing around, and he tried to join in. His instructors do a great job at keeping him focused and correcting him when he tried to goof off. Doesn't he look adorable!

I was up early this morning since I had to take my car to the body shop and pick up a rental car. My car is getting all fixed up from the lovely art work my nephew designed for me! John is the car seat pro, I have only had to put them in a few times, well I had to do it twice today and it wasn't fun, I have much more compassion for him now when securing them in. Mac wanted to play frisbee (one of his new favorite things to do) and ride his bike on the street. We are so fortunate to have a dead end street and the weather today was beautiful. Emily and Harley just hung out watching us play!

We've had a productive weekend, our goal was to put pictures us, which we did. We have about 80% of our pictures in place and our home definitely feels more lived in. It's amazing what a difference a few pictures make. Aside from that John is addicted to the Olympics, that's all we've watched all weekend. We've been dealing with sick kids the past few days. Mac started with a runny nose, then Emily followed. Mac's doing well with the cold but Emily seems to feel a little worse. We were going to visit another church today but Emily kept us up for a while and we were a bit pooped out. We will take some pictures soon and post, hopefully we'll be picture ready soon!

We finally got out to a pool today. We went to the Aquatics Center at Ft. Eustis, they had an awesome adventure pool. It had a small area for the little kids, a play area for older kids, along with an area that was whirlpool like causing you go around a circle and a large water slide which was very cool. We all loved it, even Emily, she seemed like a natural, yes I got in too for those who are wondering. Mac was doing well at his underwater swimming as you can see from one of the pictures.

We are very fortunate and have some wonderful neighbors again. One of the families across the street from us have 2 children (a 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 year old). Zach is in the Coast Guard as well, stationed in a different unit than John. Ana has been very kind to me and has invited me along on 2 playdates. Today we visited the Childrens Museum of Virginia and everyone had a great time. Mac couldn't get enough of all the fun things to do and didn't want to leave.

Before Emily was born Grandma Jan got Mac a baby doll to help with the transition of Emily entering our lives. John and I weren't sure how we felt about Mac having a doll, it ended up being fine. He was interested in it for a short while but after Emily was born he lost interest....until yesterday. I had put the doll in Emily's room, Mac brought it downstairs yesterday and asked if he could take the baby doll along in the car, to which John said no, he did the same today when we left this morning and I told him no as well. He wanted the doll to ride in the trunk, thank god he hasn't asked if Emily can ride in the trunk! Shortly this afternoon when we all were home Mac started playing with the doll, he and John were sitting in the recliners. Mac told John the baby needed to eat and Mac proceeded to lift up his shirt to put the baby on his boob. I broke out in laughter, it was very amuzing. Mac had his first official group karate class today and he did amazing. John and I were very impressed with how well he did. He put on his Gi and his white belt, he was adorable. He went right into the class and was yelling yes sir with the other kids. He is the youngest, there is a 4 year old, 5 year old then a few old kids. The little ones are so cute, it's amazing how well they pick it up. Mac is bonding with his teachers which is vital to his success. First real class is a success!
