Christmas Eve traditions.....

Image
After the fabulous Christmas Eve service we got settled in at home and the kids read the Christmas Story for us.  They were eager to open one gift which they just loved!  Then they left their letters for Santa along with cookies, milk and a lei.  Aunt Holly was nice enough to let Santa have her lei.  Mac sprinkled some reindeer food and off to bed they went!  We will have to wait and see if Santa comes!!!!!

Perfect Christmas Eve service

We picked Holly up at the airport then headed to the lighthouse at Diamond Head for a Christmas Eve service.  We got to tour the lighthouse which was really cool then the service started.  The music was great, there were hula dancers and a good sermon.  The location could not be better, we even saw whales in the water.  What a great way to start Christmas!!!!

Yeah for Christmas break

Aside from the joy of Christmas, it's so nice to have the kids home from school.  They were thrilled to sleep in and not have to be in a hurry to be anywhere.  They did a little bit of reading and homework then spent the day playing with friends.  Mac and Emily were practicing their dance moves, then late I had a house full of neighborhood kids playing games, dolls and Wii.  It was a fun day, we all are enjoying the break!

Cookie monster...

Finn has grown enough he can jump up with his front paws on our dining room table.  While I was cookie baking today I turned around and he was chowing down on some snicker doodles.....then a few hours later he did it again.  To top it off after dinner Mac pulled two of the chocolate mint cookies I make for his dessert and walked away from the table to get some milk.....when he returned one was missing.  He thought John or Emily were playing a joke....they often do but when no one fessed up we assumed Finn snagged it.  Because it's full of chocolate and has an Andes mint on top I didn't want Finn to digest it....so I made him vomit.  Sure enough we found the cookie pretty much still intact in two pieces...he didn't even take time to enjoy it!  We've got some training to do!

Pretty plate

Emily  had a cookie exchange as part of his Christmas party at school.  Once we took the cookies off we found a beautiful plate underneath!

Nutcracker date

John and I gave Emily tickets to the Nutcracker for her birthday.  John took her tonight to dinner and to see the show.  Emily was excited to get dressed up and wear her pearls from Aunt Rae Rae!  They enjoyed a spaghetti dinner before the show.   They really enjoyed their time together and the performance.

Mac's Christmas party

I helped with Mac's class Christmas party today.  We made an ornament craft and watched the Polar Express while eating popcorn and drinking cocoa.  The kids seemed to enjoy the day!  I'm excited for Christmas break and having the kids home for a few weeks.
