Zion National Park

We hiked today in Zion National Park.  What a breathtaking, amazing place.  The landscape and views were outstanding.  We did a 3.5 mile hike today and Emily did fantastic.  We are going back in a few days to do another hike, we are off to a different park tomorrow.  We love this area, there is more to do then we have time for so it will be a good reason to come back!

Bryce Canyon and Zion

We had a long day on the road today but finally made it to southern Utah. We are excited for some hiking and exploring the next few days.  The kids were ecstatic to see a horse at our campground.  Finn was beside himself and was very cute. The horse was good with him.  Finn is living all these new animals.  Although I hope he never finds a skunk!

Welcome to Utah

Another 281 miles under our belts today.  It was the hottest day yet, we arrived to almost 100 degree temperatures.  We are grateful for AC!  We were so excited to spot and In-n-Out....we need our grease fix!  There is a splash pad nearby our campsite which the kids loved.  It was a great way to cool off.  Nothing else too exciting today.....we are off to hike tomorrow and check out the Mormon temple!! The kids weren't ready to sleep but traveling sure make Finn sleepy!!

Happy Father's Day

John started his father's day on the golf course, one of his favorite places.   The kids made him some fun cards and later in the day we went for a family bike ride.  It was nice to have a chill day and to celebrate all the dads!!  We are off to Salt Lake City tomorrow!!

Day 2, Oregon to Idaho

Another 300 miles under our belt today.  Typically we will have 2 nights at most places and just the occassional overnight.  Two days of driving was long but more for John then me.  I am driving our van while he drives the truck and RV.  We felt the space would be to cramped for all of us in the truck, 2 adults, 2 kids and a dog in a truck with a small back seat doesn't sound fun.  When we have family join us....we'd have no place to put them!  It's worked out well the past two days.  I can drive ahead and take care of any miscellanous errands and get us checked into our campsite so John can just pull in. Today we hit some yucky weather and had a 4000 ft. climb.  The RV did well....it was just slow going for John.  I stopped in Boise to get Emily a new bike.  She was looking like a giant on her bike, it was time to move her up a size!  She loves her new bike and is riding it well.  We are in the middle of nowhere at a milita...

Day 1 success...Washington to Oregon

Image
We launched this morning at 10 am and drove from Poulsbo to Boardman, Oregon.  We broke a ceremonial bottle of champagne on the "bow" of the RV.....although it didn't want to break.  Our first 315 miles are successfully under our belt.  Gratefully we had no major issues and a good day all around.  Mac rode with John and Emily and I drove together.  Emily was very intrigued by the windmills. We've traveled across the country several times but the kids were so little they don't remember.  She enjoyed learning about the dam and the windmills.  We were able to visit a beautiful bench our sister-in-law put in for her parents who have passed away and loved camping at dam.  We pulled into a great campsite and enjoyed a nice walk and some family time.  Finn was mesmerized by a flock of geese and glad to be a little warmer than he has been.  John gave both kids a pocket knife with some strict guidelines.  Mac has had a pocket knife before b...
