Spring break getaway
John got home late Saturday night and didn't have to be to work until Thursday and Mac is on spring break with week so it only seemed fitting we should sneak away for a few days to spend some quality family time together. After debating between the cherry blossoms in DC and the outer banks, we chose the beach. My awesome aunt Paula offered to let us use their vacation rental there since it was open. It was an awesome place with a view that was breath taking. We woke up every morning watching the sun rise, it was awesome.
The beach was great, each morning we walked on the beach with our coffee. The kids loved playing in the sand and Mac especially loved flying his plane and his kite. Aside from stepping on a thorny ball thing, it was a few easy steps to the beach. The picture toward the end was the view from the top deck. The house also has a hot tub and pool. Surprisingly Mac loved the hot tub, it was very warm and Emily loved the pool which was very cold. She was determined to get in did up to her waist. Of course John threw Mac in, what else would he do, which Mac didn't care for, but then after a bet with John he swam across and John swam the length. Both were a bit cold but seemed to enjoy it! Yesterday we took the ferry to Ockacroke Island which was a fun adventure but really, really windy.
We had a wonderful time hanging out, relaxing and just enjoying each other. John was so sweet and let me sleep in one morning which was truly a delight, something I never get to do. We all love the beach so much, maybe one day we'll win the lottery and can live on the beach!
