Emily's 3 year old check up
Emily had her 3 year old check up today. She was worried about it since yesterday morning I told her we were going to the doctor today. She was worried about the possibility of shots, having to pee in a cup, etc.
She did great at the start, height, weight, BP and listen to her heart. She peed in a cup without any stress, then the nurse want to try to check her vision. Of course Emily wouldn't answer her when she was asking her what things were to see if she knew the objects before the test, she just ignored her. So no vision test, off to the exam room. Emily did great with the doctor until she wanted to look in her mouth, then it went downhill from there and when the nurse came in to do the shots you would have thought the world was coming to an end. She screamed before, during and after the shot all the way to the car and to the Y. Finally she got it together and played for a while.
As soon as we walked in the house, John was home and she went to him with a sad face saying "daddy I got shots today". Throughout the afternoon and evening when she would stand up she would limp and say, ouch my legs hurt (where she got the shot). Then up the stairs to get her PJ's on you would have thought she was 90 years old, limping and whining the whole way up. But took off running as soon as she hit the top of the stairs. She's already got the drama act down well!
Her stat's in case your curious (and when we look back at the blog books 20 years from now) were:
29 pounds (49th percentile)
36 1/4 inches (35th percentile) tall
15.5 BMI (20th percentile)
She grew 3 inches and gained 4 pounds I think. She's coming up in the percentile, she's been hanging between 25 and 30 percentile so it's nice to see her having some great growth!
Hopefully the shot drama will have passed by the morning!
