No training wheels day two

Image
We had another beautiful day, Mac wanted another attempt at riding his bike without training wheels. After a few spills he got it, he is still wobbly but he has the hang of it. Only one elbow scrape injury, so it was a good start! If you click on the 2nd picture it will be bigger, you'll notice Mac's tongue hanging out - one of his daddy's traits, when they are "concentrating".

John's running boards

Image
Last November when Grandma Jan was visiting she bought John running boards for his truck but they didn't arrive until after she was gone so she never got to see what they looked like. I took pictures of them, they make getting in and out of his truck much easier. Here are some pics for Grandma Jan!

First attempt at no training wheels

Ever since Mac heard cousin Brian was riding a bike without training wheels he's been wanting to try. Our weather here is usually chilly and not as nice as California, except for today. It was in the low 60's here and we spent a good majority of the afternoon outside. Mac asked Daddy to take his training wheels off, which he did and Mac had his first attempts. He did ok, John really couldn't let go of him. Shortly thereafter the neighborhood kids came out to play, also riding their bikes and Mac asked to have his training wheel put back on so he could ride with the kids. It will take awhile, hopefully in the spring when we have better weather we'll try again!

Boo Boo's

Emily's been walking for 2 months now, but she's still not always steady on her feet. She trips from time to time and usually it's on the carpet and no big deal. Last week I took the kids to the pool, she tripped and skinned her knee. Today we were outside and she was playing on the macadam and fell again, skinning her other knee. She sat down on the floor tonight, pulled up her pant legs and was analyzing her boo boo's! She's too cute.

Spit balls

John got back last night and had today off. One of the special things Mac likes us to do when daddy gets home from a trip is all go to lunch together at a restaurant. For some reason he finds this a special treat. I went to fix a salad and when I came back Mac and John had straws in their hands, I didn't think much of it, until John went to make his salad Mac started chucking spit balls across the table. I asked him where he learned it, he said "Daddy just showed me". He was pretty good at it, but it wasn't good to do in a restaurant. When John got back to the table I gave him a hard time for teaching Mac his new "trick". John said that all boys need to learn how to make spit balls but just need to know when they can do them and told Mac to stop and to only make spit balls at certain times. Mac replies "When Mommy's not around?" Oh what the boys must do when I'm not watching..........

Root Canal

I found out last week that I needed to have a root canal. Today was the lucky day, I was a bit nervous, I'm not a fan of the drill, smell of grinding teeth and was a bit freaked out by all the horror stories I've heard about root canals. It was my very back molar with 3 roots. It started off rough, I needed 3 injections of numbing meds to get me numb enough. After that it went fairly smooth, until a piece of one the the drills bit things (they are so very small), broke off. I had to sign a waiver acknowledging this was a possibility due to how tiny and fragile the tools were. So the dentist tried to flush it out, to no avail. He said it was fine to stay in, it does happen and I should be fine. After 3 hours I was done for now with a temp. filling. I have to go back in 3 weeks for the "build up and temp. crown, then back for the crown a few weeks later. Overall I was numbed up good so it wasn't really painful, I found the process interesting and would have been...

Tough Questions

Mac loves to ask questions and he has a pretty good memory, when you don't think he heard something, he repeats it, months later. He askes some easy questions, some funny questions and some hard ones to answer "meaning of life questions". Today we were driving home from swim lessons and today was one of those tough, followed up by funny question moments. He said "Granny is up in heaven and is watching us helping to keep us safe", I told him she sure is. He then asked, why did Granny go to heaven? We discussed this, then he asked, when are we going to die mommy? Wow another tough one, I told him, hopefully not until were very, very old. Then he asks " when will I'll loose my hair ?" This is the first time he's asked this one (the others we've heard before). I told him he may never loose his hair, why do you think you'll loose your hair. He said, "as you get older you loose your hair." Again I asked why he thinks h...
