Joining the facebook revolution

I've had a few friends bugging me like crazy to get on facebook. Last night I finally gave in and joined. It's actually pretty cool so far, I'm not quite sure how much I'll post stuff there since we love our blog, but it's a good way to keep in touch with people you don't talk with frequently. We'll see how it goes! John still isn't on the facebook bandwagon, but it won't be long!

Mac's newest addiction

Mac has a new addiction, a back scratcher. A couple of weeks ago he saw one of those wooden back scratchers in my drawer, he used it and loved it and asked to use it a few times since. Last week he comes into my room at some early hour and asks for my back scratcher. I give it to him and asked him if he wants to come in bed with me, he says no and takes the back scratcher to his room, scratched his back (I guess) and went back to sleep. Two mornings ago he did the same thing, although this time he scratched his back in my room, said it felt good to scratch his back, then hopped in my bed and fell back asleep. I chuckle at the little things that make men happy, even at 4 years old!

Afternoon water fun

Mac was a very good boy today so while we were out running errands we stopped and picked up a few fun outdoor water toys. Since it's so hot and muggy here it made for a perfect afternoon. Both kids loved the sprinkler, Mac enjoyed jumping over it the most. Emily also enjoyed kicking back in her little pool. The slip and slide was also a hit, Emily kept trying to drink the water coming out of the holes, Mac loved sliding and had a few grass burns on his arm this evening!

Buzz cut, sort of

Mac has been bugging me for the better part of a week to get his hair "buzzed". He wanted it short like daddy's. I played along for a few days thinking he would forget about it, but he didn't. Every day he would ask me if he could get his hair buzzed. Today after swimming I decided to take him, he needed a hair cut anyhow but I really didn't want him to be totally buzzed so after chatting with the stylist, we found a cut both Mac and I could agree on. It actually is a great cut and I'm pleased with it. Mac is tickled as well. It will be good for the summer as much as he'll be in the pool!

Brotherly love

A few weeks ago we found Mac reading to Emily. He remembered some words and made some up but never the less it was adorable. Today was better then the past few days. We had a play date with friends at Water Country and Mac did good. Hopefully tomorrow will be good too!

Rest of the weekend.....

Mac has had a hard time lately listening and has been doing some mischievous things. It started when John went on his latest adventure so I don't know if it's related to that or just a phase. I thought allowing him to burn off some energy by doing some great stuff this weekend would help, but it didn't seem to make a big difference. Yesterday after miniature golf (Mac got 3 holes in one, pretty impressive), we chatted and I decided we won't do anymore fun stuff until he shaped up, that all this great stuff we were doing is stuff that is earned. Last night as I was putting him to bed we were saying his prayers, he asked God to help him be a better boy, which was cute. Today he did fairly well throughout the day and I told him often how well he was doing, then this evening he began not listening and it went downhill from there, so no fun stuff tomorrow. Hopefully this will do the trick, he seems to respond well to earning privileges and positive feedback. If anyone ...

Fun at Busch Gardens

We have annual passes for Busch Gardens and Water Country. Mac has been asking to go to Busch Gardens, I hesitated this weekend because I knew it would be busy with it being a holiday weekend. I gave in this afternoon and after Emily's nap we headed over around 4:15. It was actually a good time, those who came in the morning were leaving so we had no problems. Mac was in awe with everything he was seeing, he is such an amusement park junkie. Before we left there was a show on the TV highlighting the various rollercoasters "thrill rides". Again he was glued to what there were saying and I'd hear him say, "wow that's awesome". Since it was just the 3 of us Mac only could ride the rides he could go on by himself. We only went to one area of the park and it worked just perfect. He got to see a horse, ride a few little rides then rode on a ride that shot him up in the air, would come down part way, go up again, ect. and he loved it. Mac, Emily and I rode a sh...
