Consignment sale score!

Image
I'm becoming a consignment sale junkie, yesterday was one of the biggest in the Williamsburg area, it happens in the spring and fall. This was my third and each time is a learning experience. It's a great way to shop for Emily, I always find great things. It's harder for Mac since kids stay in their clothes longer when they get bigger and there just isn't alot for the bigger kids. I did find him a pair of cleats for t-ball, a puzzle and some books. I got some great summer clothes for Emily. I ended up with 8 dresses, 2 pants, 3 capri/shirt sets, 2 short/shirt sets, 10 shorts, 3 skirts, 4 capri pants, 11 shirts, 1 swim suit, a Dora pack pack, Dora plate, cup and bowl, 2 pairs of shoes and for Mac, 18 books, cleats and a puzzle....all for 150 bucks! Score!

A cute picture from today...

Darn Dora doll

A few days ago Emily got a very cute Dora doll that says cute things when you press her belly or give her a hug. Of course Emily cannot go to bed now without her (and the other 3 Dora dolls she has). Two nights ago I kept getting woken up in the middle of the night by hearing the lovely Dora doll talking, Emily must have been rolling on her or something. After a few times I couldn't deal anymore so I got up and moved the doll to the end of her crib. Thinking ahead last night I moved the doll before I went to bed to the end of her crib and the night was well, but I was awaken at 6:30 this morning with Dora talking, Emily grabbed her as soon as she woke up. Of course she goes with us everywhere too, I'm getting very tired of hearing Dora.......

No me do it......

These are the words I hear alot lately. Emily is a very independent little girl. She no longer lets me put her in her booster seat and clip her in, she fights to get in her car seat by herself (she can't clip her harness yet though) along with many other daily activities....I'm glad she wants to be independent but some days I'm in a hurry and when I hear "no me do it" I know it's going to take a few extra minutes"!

Snow day...get real

So we had a "Nor'easter" come through with rain, sleet and snow. I woke up to schools being cancelled, etc today. I looked outside, yes there was a little snow on the ground, road were a little slushy but let's get real. There was no need to cancel stuff today....although the kids and I had a fun day. I'm just tired of people freaking out with one little snow flake.....

But Gran said

Today for some reason has been filled with lots of "but Gran said" words! It started this morning when I was cooking eggs and he wanted to go get his "egg timer". When he found it, it was a hourglass from his Horton game that only lasts about a minute until the sand is down on the bottom. When I told him it wasn't an egg timer, since the eggs aren't done, he says "but Gran said it was" numerous times. Later we were putting a puzzle together and out of the blue he says "Gran says there's not a 100 pieces in this puzzle. I explained there was and he said no it's isn't because "Gran said"! I had to buy dried apricots for Mac since Gran brought some with her and Mac thinks there the latest and greatest thing! We had a few other things today and the day was topped off with both kids singing Mama Mia on our way home from swim lessons. We love you Gran! Thanks for spending the week with us!

Pogo stick

While at a consignment sale the end of last week Mac stumbled upon a pogo stick. He kept asking me for it, of course the protective mom in me said no initially. As we continued to look around he hung onto to it. I finally caved and decided I would give him a chance, it was only a few buck and I figured, hoped and prayed with lots of supervision he'll be ok. As I'm waiting in line to check out, another mom says "boy your brave", making me doubt my decision. The past few days he loves trying to use it, he especially like it when you hold it up and him so he can hop! He's got the concept but not the balance! It still make me very nervous......
